San Diego Chargers tight end Antonio Gates and wide receiver Vincent Jackson were both limited in practice on Wednesday. Gates practiced for the first time in weeks on Monday and could play in Sunday's game against the New York Jets. The nine-year veteran has been sidelined for the past three games with a bout of plantar fasciitis in his right foot. He has been hoping that resting the injury will help remove some pain. Gates has eight catches for 74 yards in two games this season. For his part, Jackson has been plagued by a hamstring injury. He initially suffered the injury in a Week 4 victory over Miami and appeared somewhat limited in a win over Denver prior to last week's bye. Jackson, who has also been dealing with an abdominal injury, has 23 receptions and three touchdowns in five games this season.

Chargers TE Antonio Gates, WR Vincent Jackson Back At Practice

The San Diego Chargers have a big game this weekend against the New York Jets and if they can roll out Antonio Gates and Vincent Jackson their chances of burning Rex RyanÂ’s defense is much better. The bye week appears to have helped the team recover from injuries and today is a good sign, with both Jackson and Gates on the field to start WednesdayÂ’s practice. Defensive end Luis...

Week 7 TE Rankings: Antonio Gates Good to Go, or No?

With the San Diego Chargers coming off of their bye week, many fantasy owners will surely be asking whether or not Antonio Gates will play in fantasy football’s Week 7 contest against the Jets. What I can tell you is Gates was at practice on Monday and did participate despite still feeling some lingering soreness in that foot, but the real question is if he does start, just...

Practice Resumes for Gates

Antonio Gates was back on the Chargers practice field for the first time in weeks.

Chargers TE Antonio Gates Noncommittal About Playing After Return To Practice

Antonio Gates caught a pass in the end zone and tiptoed both feet in-bounds. It was against air at the beginning of MondayÂ’s practice, but itÂ’s been a while since anyone has seen even that much. And it appears Gates is on track to at least try to make such a play in a game. While hoping for what he called “a miracle” that would allow him to return sooner, it has long been inÂ...

Antonio Gates Absent at Practice

Take a deep breath. Don't panic. (Not yet anyway.) Chargers tight end Antonio Gates missed practice Thursday, this after returning to the field Monday for the first time in nearly a month and then participating again on Wednesday. But wait. Thursday's inactivity could be little more than a scheduled rest today, as it would have been the first time Gates, who is working to...

Chargers' Gates returns, hopes to play vs. Jets

SAN DIEGO (AP) -- Star tight end Antonio Gates returned to practice in a limited role on Monday in hopes of playing against the New York Jets.

Gates, Gilchrist Practice for Chargers

Hardly anyone was missing Friday morning in the final Chargers practice before the team's afternoon trip to the East Coast. Tight end Antonio Gates, after sitting out Thursday, worked out for the third time this week and, barring a setback, will be on the field Sunday when the team faces the New York Jets at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, N.J. He is expected to see limited...

City Of Otherly Love

One of the most underrated fantasy recievers might be Jermey Maclin.  During the offseason Maclin was dealing with a mysterious illness that still has not been figured out.  In most leagues he probably dropped to the late rounds because of it.  He has had a very quiet 37 catches 489 and 3 TD’s.  Catches he ranks 4th in the league, yards 8th, and TD’s is tied for 15th...

Bolts Notebook: 10/18

Can a gimpy Antonio Gates cure what ails the Chargers? How is the lockout continuing to shape San Diego's defense? What phase of the Chargers-Jets game will offer the most excitement? These answers and more in this week's Bolts Notebook.

Gates Likely to be Limited on Sunday

One of the biggest reasons for Philip Rivers slow start has to be the fact that Antonio Gates has been limited through much of the season.  With his absence, Rivers has thrown just six touchdowns to seven interceptions … quite the abberation for a player normally as efficient as Rivers.  So with Gates returning to the field earlier this week … what’s his status...

First Look: San Diego Chargers

For the Record: San Diego is 4-1, in first place by half a game in the AFC West. Last Game: After facing a team coming off their bye week, the Jets will face yet another team coming off the beach, while the Jets fight a short week after the MNF game. In their last game the Chargers staved off the surging Denver in their 29-24 victory over the Tebow’d Broncos.  Who...
