Expect another offseason full of conversation that Chargers CB Quentin Jammer should change positions and move to safety. The team is still not sold that current starting SS Steve Gregory is a long-term answer after he replaced free-agent pickup Bob Sanders, and there is a strong belief that Jammer's physical style is better-suited for playing deep in the defensive backfield than on the outside. Gregory is "a guy the team is comfortable with," according to a team insider, "but they're always looking to upgrade that safety position." However, even though Jammer is set to enter his 11th season in the league in 2012, Pro Football Weekly hears that the team is unlikely to make the position change this offseason, as the veteran still has some quality years left at corner. The team may opt instead to move 2011 rookie Marcus Gilchrist to safety, a position he played quite a bit in college.
