The Chargers earned their first win since beating the Chiefs in week four.  The effort of the win can largely be attributed to the superb play of the defense. Against the Chiefs they were able to force four turnovers, two of which were for touchdowns, and hold the offense to 289 total yards. They prove once again that they are an elite defense in this league and remain the glimmer of hope for the team.  The Chargers will need to step up their run defense once again as they face a red hot rookie in Doug Martin. Martin is coming off a Sunday matchup of scoring four touchdowns and will be looking to do the same to the Chargers.  Offensively, the Chargers did just enough to win a game. They made less mistakes, and are showing more mental toughness than in the previous weeks. However, the return of their receiving unit is going to become more and more vital as this season goes on. Vincent Brown, Eddie Royal, and Robert Meachem hopefully will all make a timely return this season with the hardest portion of the season coming fast.  Philip Rivers will need to grow on what he accomplished this weekend and continue playing mistake free football.  Norv Turner will get to keep his job for another week. He is aware that every game he coaches for this team very well could be his last depending on the outcome. Thoughts around the Twitter world indicate that fans are not quite ready to make nice with the Head coach just yet. But the win will quiet the 'Fire Norv' campaigners for at least this week.  The Chargers head into week ten facing the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Florida and will look to build whatever momentum they've built up.    Check out other great articles at Sports Media 101. var switchTo5x=true; stLight.options({publisher:''});
