San Diego Chargers tight end Antonio Gates practiced for the first time in weeks and could play in Sunday's game against the New York Jets.
Gates has been sidelined for the past three games with a reoccurring bout of plantar fasciitis in his right foot. He has been hoping that resting the injury will help remove some pain.
Gates plans on practicing the rest of the week and may be able to face the Jets.
The nine-year vet has eight catches for 74 yards in two games this season.
