Is Calvin Johnson the NFL’s LeBron James? Bears corner back Charles Tillman compared the two today (Credit: AP Photo) The Chicago Bears have been doing a lot of talking before this weekend’s match up with the Detroit Lions. Yesterday, defensive tackle Henry Melton said he expects dirty play from the Lions. Today, safety Major Wright criticized quarterback Matthew Stafford for folding under pressure. Despite the negative comments over the last two days, corner back Charles Tillman had something nice to say about the Detroit Lions. After considering who he was going to match up against, Tillman compared wide receiver Calvin Johnson to LeBron James. “He can do everything,” Tillman told the Chicago Tribune. “He’s the LeBron James of football. If you could create a player — that’s Calvin Johnson. Size, speed, hands, agility, quickness, strength.” After holding Johnson to 34 yards on 3 catches during their week seven meeting, Tillman says he is not sure if the team will be able to shut down Johnson again this week. “It would be cool if we did, but I don’t know how.” I thought Tillman was going to compare Johnson to LeBron for the lack of winning games. Just as LeBron used to be the best player in the NBA without a championship, Calvin Johnson is one of the best in the NFL without a championship. The Chicago Bears will be playing for a spot in the playoffs this Sunday as they take on the Detroit Lions at Ford Field.   The post Charles Tillman compares Calvin Johnson to LeBron James appeared first on DOWN & DISTANCE.

You can stop wishing to see LeBron in the dunk contest

Every year of LeBron James’ career, as it gets closer to the All-Star break, people start hoping. “Will this finally be the year we see LeBron in the dunk contest?” The answer is always no. As each year goes by, the hope dwindles a bit as LeBron gets older and loses a little more explosiveness in his legs. Don’t get me wrong, I still think he could put on a hell of a...

Mbah a Moute expanding offensive skill set

ST. FRANCIS, Wis. -- In the final seconds of a close game with the Miami Heat, who would Luc Richard Mbah a Moute rather guard, LeBron James or Dwyane Wade? "They both are bad options," Mbah a Moute said with a grin. "I don't have a preference. Both those guys are tough in their own way." Welcome to Mbah a Moute's world. A world in which he's tasked...

POTD 12/25/12: LeBron James on Serge Ibaka

Serge Ibaka has already blocked 81 shots this season, which, as you might expect, happens to be more than anyone else in the league.  Not even Air Congo can stuff ‘em all, though.  Take this LeBron James putback, for instance… When you think about it, the degree of difficulty involved here is pretty impressive.  To time a one-handed putback and throw it down with such force...

Pro Bowl's fate on the line?

The NFL is hoping to decide the fate of the Pro Bowl by the time it releases next season's schedule in April. And the fate of the league's All-Star game will largely depend on how much effort this year's participants put into the game. Calvin Johnson heading to the Pro Bowl, Stafford and Suh named as alternates

Wednesday afternoon NFL Pro Bowl rosters were announced and unsurprisingly Lions wide receiver Calvin Johnson was selected as a starter for the NFC squad. CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Win and move on. That seems to be the Miami Heat's approach right now as it enters its first extended road stretch this season. So even though the Heat couldn't put away the lowly Charlotte Bobcats until late in the fourth quarter, coach Erik Spoelstra and his players were satisfied for the most part with their 105-92 victory at Time Warner Cable Arena...
