TEAMS: Pittsburgh Steelers, Cleveland Browns, Baltimore Ravens, St. Louis Rams
Steelers Digest is reporting via Twitter that veteran Pittsburgh Steelers backup quarterback Charlie Batch will start at quarterback Saturday against the St. Louis Rams at Heinz Field in place of the injured Ben Roethlisberger. Roethlisberger is still nursing his left ankle sprain suffered in the first half against the Cleveland Browns a few weeks ago and he was not able to practice this week after starting Monday night against the San Francisco 49ers.
This will be the first start of the 2011 season for Batch and his last start came back in week 4 of the 2010 season against the Baltimore Ravens. Read more [...]

Ben, Ben, Ben. This might be the most attention you’ve received during the actual course of the football season and not just the offseason. The Case Against Ben Roethlisberger Starting
Dejan Kovacevic wrote in his column today that the Steelers should play Ben Roethlisberger these final two weeks of the season. Now, Kovacevic is no joke. He knows what he's talking about in every sport and I agree with him close to 100% of the time. This is one of the times I don't.He's right about a few things, of course. There is a case to start Ben despite his high...
No Big Ben, no problem as Steelers rout Rams
Rashard Mendenhall ran for 116 yards and a touchdown and backup quarterback Charlie Batch played efficiently in place of an injured Ben Roethlisberger as the Pittsburgh Steelers pummeled lifeless St. Louis 27-0 on Sunday.
Take a seat Ben, Chuck’s got this one
All the Steelers had to do was beat the 49ers and the AFC North would’ve pretty much been theirs to lose. They lost and now they’re praying for a Festivus miracle.
Either way, with the Rams and Browns the only teams left on their schedule, the Steelers could throw Tommy Maddox under center and could still cover the spread.

Quarterback Ben Roethlisberger was absent from the practice field Wednesday, according to Mark Kaboly of the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review.
Fantasy Spin:
Roethlisberger wants to play in Week 16 vs. the Rams, but there has been speculation that the Steelers may hold him out to prevent making his sprained ankle worse. Charlie Batch would get the starting nod if Big Ben doesnt go.
Roethlisberger hoping to play vs. Rams
PITTSBURGH (AP) -- Pittsburgh quarterback Ben Roethlisberger is optimistic he'll play Saturday when the Steelers host St. Louis.
On The Steelers: QB situation remains iffy
Quarterback Ben Roethlisberger's ankle is no worse than it was last week, he said, and others said he is getting around better than he did last week. So, the decision should be easier for Mike Tomlin this week than it was to start his quarterback Monday night in San Francisco. But his decision could be a different one. "I'm going to wait to hear from him," Roethlisberger said.
Holiday cheer: Steelers find a Batch of goodies in shutout
Mike Tomlin's gamble paid off. Ben Roethlisberger took the day off and so did the St. Louis Rams as the Steelers used the opportunity to work their ground game against the worst run defense in the NFL. The 27-0 final Saturday at Heinz Field was not as close as the score might indicate.
