Over the last few days we've profiled some guys we are going to be watching at the Falcons rookie camp this weekend. One interesting note is that our second round pick Peter Konz is being cross-trained at center and guard. Also, Lamar Holmes is going to miss the camp with a minor (keep your fingers crossed) foot injury. Here's the skinny on day one from Falcons mini-camp from around the web.

This guy will be watching from the sidelines

Konz impresses on 1st day of Atlanta rookie camp:

Peter Konz, a second-round draft pick from Wisconsin, looked the part of a potential NFL starter as the Falcons opened a three-day rookie minicamp Friday.

Mitchell fits:

The Falcons drafted Charles Mitchell in the sixth round, and according to (Tim) Lewis, the former Mississippi State safety looks good early on... “He is doing a good job,” Lewis said. “It’s a learning process for them. Learning the terminology is the toughest thing right now. If I could just evaluate him athletically, he looks like he fits in. We can find a way to use his talents.”

FB Ewing could catch passes in 2012:

Coach Mike Smith, after Day 1 of rookie minicamp, said FB Bradie Ewing could be used in the passing game this year: “He doesn't have the statistics in college....He does catch the football, catches it very well and has good hands.”

Is LB Matt Hanson a name to watch? He got cut by the Falcons last year on Sept 2nd but he's back and looks like he's looking good so far:

I'll have a post on Matt Hansen later this evening, but after one day, he's one of my dark horse roster favorites. @atlminicamp

Apparently Peter Konz is bringing back the dirty bird:
