Chicago Bears 2024 NFL Draft Big Board 1.0

Since the end of the regular season, the Building the Board team has worked hard to build a draft board for the Chicago Bears. This board accounts for scheme fit, draft preferences from previous classes, and positional needs. We currently have just over 125 players graded but need to return to the tape on a few. For now, our board is based on the average of our scouts' grades.

In the coming weeks, we will fine-tune the board to the Bears more specifically. Make sure to follow our scouts' written, video, and podcast content year-round!

1. Caleb Williams - QB - USC

"Williams has some of the best arm talent coming into the league in recent memory. You can argue all day if the entire package is 'generational,' but his arm talent is unquestionably generational. It starts with one of the fastest releases I've seen in my time. There are no wasted movements in his delivery, and he can generate tremendous torque from his lower body even when he can't step into his throw or if he's forced to drop his arm angle."

- Building the Board scout Steve Letizia

2. Marvin Harrison Jr. - WR - Ohio State

"It's always dangerous to label a prospect 'can't miss' or 'generational.' I don't care. Harrison Jr. is as close to a sure thing as you will find in the NFL Draft."

- Building the Board scout Tom Kavanaugh

3. Malik Nabers - WR - LSU

"Nabers is the most explosive playmaker in the 2024 NFL Draft. He can create big-time plays by taking the top off the defense or running a screen 50 yards to the house."

- Building the Board scout Tom Kavanaugh

4. Dallas Turner - EDGE - Alabama

"There's a lot to like in Turner's game as is, but he's a projected top-15 pick because of the player he can become if he continues to progress. There may not be a player with a higher ceiling, regardless of position, in the 2024 NFL Draft than Turner. His length, athleticism, and flexibility all grade out as elite. If he can round out his game and become more consistent, he could be a game-wrecker at the next level."

- Building the Board scout Steve Letizia

5. Jared Verse - EDGE - Florida State

"Verse is the poster child of an old-school 4-3 defensive end. His size, length, explosiveness, power, and motor should entice most teams entering the 2024 NFL Draft."

- Building the Board scout Tom Kavanaugh

6. JC Latham - OT - Alabama

"When watching Latham, you'd never guess he tops the scales at nearly 360 pounds. The first step of his kick slide is explosive, yet he remains completely under control, allowing him to get to his spot even when facing college football’s elite speed rushers in the SEC. So, if you can’t get around him, the only option is to go through him. This seems logical, but any attempt at a bull rush is shut down immediately by his ability to drop his hips, dig in his heels, and anchor with ease."

- Building the Board scout Steve Letizia

7. Rome Odunze - WR - Washington

"Odunze projects as a three-level threat who can win as an X receiver in the NFL. His ability to dominate single coverage at the line of scrimmage and downfield at the catch point is where he provides the most value."

- Building the Board scout Tom Kavanaugh

8. Joe Alt - OT - Notre Dame

"Notre Dame has a history of producing quality offensive linemen. And Alt is no different, possessing special size and athleticism for the offensive tackle position. Additionally, I like his background including time playing quarterback and tight end. That should help give him a better perspective of how he's impacting players around him. When I look at him, I see a nearly perfect offensive tackle prospect. The knocks on Alt are all either minor or fixable, for the most part, while the positives are clear as day."

- Building the Board scout Quinten Krzysko

9. Johnny Newton - iDL - Illinois

"Overall, Johnny Newton is a heck of a football player. He consistently combines a quick first step with instant arm extension and excellent hand placement to win the first significant contact on pass rush reps. But the first step is not his go-to move. In fact, I get the feeling that he prefers to read and react off the line of scrimmage. This is something that takes a high degree of skill, processing, and athleticism to pull off."

- Building the Board scout Quinten Krzysko

10. Brock Bowers - TE - Georgia

"Bowers combines rare explosiveness with an urgent and physical attitude to take over games. He was a focal point for the Georgia offense and was one of the premier pass catchers in the SEC over the last three seasons. Despite dealing with an ankle injury in 2023 that required tightrope surgery, Bowers only missed three games and returned earlier than anyone could've predicted. His production fell off after he returned, but he probably shouldn't have been on the field."
