Found October 02, 2011 on Bears Locker:
The Bears made big plays in all three phases of the game today, and that team effort got them a hard fought win over the visiting Panthers.  Jay Cutler was little more than a game manager for the Bears today.  He completed 9 of 17 passes for 102 yards without a TD pass and 1 interception.  Matt Forte carried the offense for the Bears today as he carried the ball 25 times for 205 yards (8.2 ypc) with 2 TD runs.  He also caught 4 passes for 23 yards (5.8 avg) in this game.  Marion Barber pitched in with 17 yards rushing on 5 carries (3.4 ypc) with 1 TD run.  WR Johnny Knox led the way in the passing game for the Bears with 3 grabs for 48 yards (16.0 avg).  Devin Hester didn’t catch any passes today, but he returned 2 kickoffs for 73 yards (36.5 avg) and a punt 69 yards for a TD.  The Bears finished up with 224 yards rushing on 31 carries (7.2 ypc) and they also completed 9 of 17 passes (52.9%) for 93 yards as they had possession of the ball for 26:31. Forte Rushes for Career High

Bears running back Matt Forte rushed for 205 yards against the Panthers this afternoon, breaking his old mark of 166 set last season.

Miked-Up Cutler Sounds Like a Leader

The Bears put a microphone on Jay Cutler for Sunday's game, the one against the Carolina Panthers in which he had just 100 passing yards. It's well worth spending just under three minutes listening to and pondering. The Cutler shown here is much less guarded than the one who stands behind a podium during press conferences. You can see him be a leader, as he congratulates...

Cutler seen at 'Dancing with the Stars'

Chicago Bears quarterback Jay Cutler was in the audience at "Dancing with the Stars" Monday night to cheer on his ex-fiancee, Kristin Cavallari. Cutler, 28, clapped and cheered as Cavallari swayed in the arms of pro partner Mark Ballas as they danced the samba, earning 24 points for their performance. Rumors have swirled that the former "Hills" star and Cutler...

Bears Jay Cutler Attends Dancing with the Stars, Supporting Kristin Cavallari?

Chicago Bears QB Jay Cutler had a rough day yesterday. Sure, he got a win- over one of the NFL‘s worst teams, but he had an ugly 46.3 passer rating in a putrid under .500 completion, barely over 100 yards passing day. Well his Monday seems more interesting, as Cutler supposedly flew to Los Angeles and attending tonight’s “Dancing with the Stars” to support ex-fiance Kristin...

10 observations on the Bears

AFTERNOON SPORTS CLUB: The Bears’ victory over the Panthers would be a lot easier to celebrate if the Bears looked like they could beat better teams than the Panthers with 224 rushing yards and Jay Cutler throwing 17 passes. Unfortunately, there’s no way that was the formula Jerry Angelo and Lovie Smith had...

Matt Forte: Contract situation is a distraction

The Bears finally rediscovered their running game on Sunday, giving the ball to Matt Forte 25 times and watching him scamper for 205 yards in their 34-29 win over the Panthers. That was a welcome change for a team that had become overly reliant on the pass despite a leaky offensive line and sketchy receiving…

Keys To The Game: Bears Need Manageable Third Downs

The Bears have struggled mightily converting third downs as of late. A lot of it has to do with penalties and just not being a disciplined team. According to STATS, the offense leads the league with 16 three-and-outs. Also, in the 39 offensive series the Bears have had, they have punted the ball after three plays 41 percent of the time. “To me, three-and-outs are the worst thing...

Call it an identity crisis

The game Sunday featured a mobile, strong-armed and poised quarterback operating an offense tailor-made to exploit his strengths. He had time to throw behind a veteran offensive line. He had two solid running backs, an obvious  No. 1 receiver and two Pro Bowl-caliber tight ends that give him big targets...

Former Broncos O-coordinator Mike Heimerdinger dies at 58

It’s a sad day in Broncoland and to all those who were touched by Mike Heimerdinger, who died Friday from a rare form of cancer. He was 58. Heimerdinger had two coaching stints in Denver _ as a receiver coach from 1995-99 that included the team’s back-to-back Super Bowl wins _ and again from 2006-07, where he was essentially the offensive coordinator and mentor during quarterback...

Hester is difference in win over Panthers

Devin Hester was performing somersaults. Matt Forte was running wild, too. Even so, this was hardly a breather for the Chicago Bears.
