Pete Prisco of CBS Sports revealed his picks for the most overrated and the most underrated player on each team in the National Football League. He went with the Detroit Lions Ndamukong Suh as the most overrated player in the entire NFL and he went with 49ers defensive end Ray McDonald as the most underrated player.

For the Chicago Bears he had a player repeat from his 2011 overrated list and his most underrated Bear is a player that many Bears fans are expecting big things from in 2012.

It shouldn't be a surprise, but Devin Hester repeated as his most overrated player on the Bears. Here's what he had to say;

Yes, he's a nice return man. Not what he once was, but good. As a receiver, he isn't much. Yet you'd think he was a star.

I understand why those in the media paint Hester as overrated, but I think it's more relevant to listen to his peers. For everything that Hester isn't, his peers consider him to be one of the most dynamic players in the NFL. Opposing sidelines still perk up when he's set to return a punt or kick and opposing defenses are still wary of him on offense.

Who would you pick as the Bears most overrated player?

In my opinion it's hard to pick an overrated Bears player, because the Bears players really don't receive a lot of hype in the media. Kind of hard to call someone overrated when they aren't getting rated in the first place. Julius Peppers, Brian Urlacher and Lance Briggs are always in the Pro Bowl discussion. Charles Tillman receives some notoriety locally plus he made his first Pro Bowl last year, as did Matt Forte. Hester and Jay Cutler get some attention each for their own reasons. But if I had to make a call on the most overrated Bears player... I'd go with... Matt Forte.

It's not because I don't think he's a good player, it's just that I think he's good player. Huh? I think I confused myself.

I like Forte, I think he has Pro Bowl talent, but I also think that his receiving numbers have been inflated because the other Bears pass catchers weren't up to par. His rushing yards were also jacked up because he received the bulk of the carries. His inability to stick it in the end zone is troubling. But my main reasoning for picking him as the Bears most overrated, is he's overrating himself, his agent is overrating his client, and the Pay Da Man disciples are overrating his worth to the Bears. I don't see him as an elite tailback, and some try and paint him that way.

But on the underrated side of things...

Henry Melton had a break out season last year starting at defensive tackle, and I'm expecting his play to make another jump. Prisco called him the Bears most underrated player, and here's what he had to say;

He has great quickness playing the three-technique tackle spot. He had seven sacks from his down spot. He does get handled some at the point, but that can improve with more strength for this former college runner.

Who would you pick as the Bears most underrated player?

I can't disagree with his pick, but to be different I'll go with Lance Louis. Wait, what? A Bears o-lineman! Yes. I've seen positive traits from Louis while playing guard and I think if he's left to the interior and not kicked outside he'll be playing some very good football by the time week 17 rolls around. He needs reps at guard, but I like his physicality and his sour disposition.
