The Chicago Bears announced today that they’ve signed wide receiver and special-team specialist Rashied Davis to a one-year contract. Davis is an eight-year veteran of the NFL and played his first six seasons with the Bears. He started in 15 games in his career, but was more known for his special team efforts as he was a four-phase special-teams contributor. That’s the reason that Davis was in contact with Chicago’s special teams coordinator Dave Toub throughout the offseason. Davis will fill a hole left in Chicago’s roster left by newly acquired wide receiver Devin Thomas. Thomas, a former second round draft pick of the Washington Redskins, surprised everyone by announcing his retirement Sunday at the age of 25. “Somebody walked off the field; he didn’t want his job,” Davis, 33, said of Thomas. “I guess I want it. So it’s all good with me.” Davis isn’t allowed to participate in any on-field activities for the Bears for the next three days, meaning he won’t suit up for Thursday’s pre
