After the first few days of practice, the Chicago Bears receiving corps has looked dominant. This is what the team's coaches and management was hoping for when they went out and brought in multiple weapons in the offseason.

Brandon Marshall dominated every defensive back that lined up against him during drills on Sunday. However, corner Kelvin Hayden had him on lockdown, but quarterback Jay Cutler was able to find other receivers wide open.

When Marshall was covered, Devin Hester burnt Charles Tillman, Alshon Jeffery climbed over Jonathan Wilhite, Chris Summers went up and pulled a pass down over safety Trevor Coston and Devin Thomas ran right past Tim Jennings like he wasn't even there.

The guys lining up opposite the receivers are creating excitement on what this offensive unit is capable of as this is the first time in years, if ever, where the Bears receivers are creating a buzz.

“In this league, you’re going to come up against defenses that have a physical secondary, some that have a speed secondary. But you have big guys like Marshall, Devin Thomas, Alshon, guys that look like a basketball team," Hayden said.

You look at the group, it does seem like a basketball team. Marshall is 6-4, 230 pounds, Jeffery 6-3, 216, and undrafted free-agent rookies Terriun Crump and Summers go 6-2, 223 and 6-5, 213, respectively. Don't forget tight ends Kellen Davis and Matt Spaeth are both 6-7.

"Then you got guys like Devin Hester, Earl Bennett and Eric Weems who can do some things in the slot, do some things out wide to keep defensive backs on their toes,’’ Hayden said.

Chicago has the ability to mix and match with this group of receivers, and that's what we at Bears 101 expect of them. As of now, Marshall and Hester have been working with the starters in two-receiver sets. That, however any of the teams' wideouts have the talent to play in either role in the offense.
