Chiefs Add to RB Depth With Recent Practice Squad Move
USA TODAY Sports

The Kansas City Chiefs' Week 13 game against the Green Bay Packers is just days away, and the team has a new player in the fold ahead of the matchup.

Kansas City has signed former Arizona Cardinals running back Keaontay Ingram to the practice squad:

Ingram, a sixth-round pick (No. 201 overall) in the 2022 NFL Draft, spent three years of collegiate ball at Texas before ending up at USC as a senior. He established his presence with the Trojans, rushing 156 times for 911 yards and five touchdowns to cap off his college career. Arizona invested in him in the draft, although his time with the team was cut short when he got waived earlier this week. Part of the decision to part ways with him was likely due to increased health and availability elsewhere in the Cardinals' running back rotation.

Thus far in his NFL career, Ingram has played in 20 regular-season games. In those contests, he has 62 rushing attempts for 134 yards (2.2 yards per attempt) with a touchdown. In eight games this season, he had 74 rushing yards and four receptions for 26 yards. In all, Ingram has accounted for five first downs in 2023 and had his best game on October 15 against the Los Angeles Rams (10 carries for 40 yards and two catches for 11 yards). He's played a combined 133 snaps between offense and special teams this season.

During the pre-draft process, Ingram measured up at 5'11" and weighed 221 pounds. He ran a 4.53-second 40-yard dash and had a broad jump of just over 10 feet, contributing to a very healthy 8.67 Relative Athletic Score. Now, he joins fellow running backs La'Mical Perine and Deneric Prince on the practice squad. Elsewhere, veteran Jerick McKinnon made his return to the practice field on Thursday after missing multiple days with a lingering groin injury.
