Mired in a three-game losing streak, the San Diego Chargers are looking for answers while the job security of coach Norv Turner is once again being questioned. With Kansas City stuck in a four-game slide and tied for the worst record in the NFL, Chiefs coach Romeo Crennel might also face an uncertain future if he can't get things turned around. The AFC West foes look to end their skids Thursday night when the Chargers try to sweep the season series with a fifth consecutive home victory over the Chiefs. After winning three of four, San Diego (3-4) is again stuck in a rut that has become commonplace in recent years. The Chargers started 2-5 in 2010 and endured a six-game skid in 2011, missing the playoffs in both seasons. San Diego blew a 10-point lead during a 31-24 loss at New Orleans on Oct. 7 and followed that by giving up a 24-0 cushion in a 35-24 home defeat to Denver. On Sunday, the Chargers came off their bye and managed 265 yards in a 7-6 loss at lowly Cleveland. &qu...

Hate to say it, but it's time for Romeo to go

KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- We in the media have held off calling for head coach Romeo Crennel's job mainly because the biggest problem with the Chiefs seems to be the man who constructed this catastrophe -- general manager Scott Pioli. Pioli already has absorbed his share of heat from media and fans -- deservedly so -- and he likely will have to endure much more before this train wreck...

Crennel stupefied by Charles' usage

The Chiefs coach doesn't call the plays on offense in KC so, like fans, he also doesn't get why they only handed the ball to their best weapon five times during Sunday's loss.

Romeo Crennel Isn't Sure Why Jamaal Charles Only Got Five Carries in Loss to Raiders

Romeo Crennel is a defensive-minded football coach, so he may not be well-versed in what most would call "offense." However, he is the head coach of the Kansas City Chiefs, which means that he has the final say over everything regarding his football team. This seems simple, at least in theory, which is why Crennel's response to the use of Chiefs running...

Romeo Crennel had no idea why Jamaal Charles only got five carries

In seven words, Romeo Crennel explained why the Kansas City Chiefs are so bad this year. Asked after Sunday’s 26-16 loss to the Oakland Raiders why stud running back Jamaal Charles only got five carries, the Chiefs head coach seemed perplexed. “Now, that I’m not exactly sure, either,” Crennel said, per Associated Press writer Dave Skretta. Yeah, Romeo, that’s a question...

At 1-6, laugh at Chiefs to keep from crying

KANSAS CITY, Mo. There comes a point where you have two choices: You can either storm the gates with torches in hand, or throw up your arms, laugh and walk away. Clark Hunt will be a rich man regardless. Whether you're riding shotgun or not, the clown car rides on. "They aren't going to cancel a game," Kansas City coach Romeo Crennel, that renowned leader of men...

Stay assy, San Diego: Reeling Chargers out-Browns Browns for 7-6 loss in slopfest

“[O]bviously we cannot play as a team. We appear to not be able to handle adversity or finish games. Individual and team confidence appears to be going south … a team going in the wrong direction fast.” — Chargers GM A. J. Smith, a week before the Chargers lost to the Browns “When will Norv Turner be fired? No more if. Can’t be.” — Kevin Acee, San Diego Union-Times...

Kansas City Chiefs: Week 9 NFL Power Rankings (#31)

Last week: 30 (-1) Record: 1-6 The Chiefs have yet to lead in regulation this year. Meanwhile, when Head Coach Romeo Crennel was asked why Jamaal Charles only got 5 carries last week, he said “I’m not exactly sure.” I get that Brian Daboll calls the play, but having no clue why your best offensive player isn’t getting the ball is ridiculous. Both of them should be fired....
