Arrowhead Stadium used to be a place where opposing teams hated to visit because of how loud the crowd could be during the game. Today, the crowd is not the same and Sam Mellinger of the Kansas City Star is reporting that one fan, or group of fans, has hired an airplane to fly a banner over the stadium during today’s game.
According to Mellinger, the banner which will read “WE DESERVE BETTER! FIRE PIOLI — BENCH CASSEL” will be flown over the parking lot, expressing the fanbase’s dissatisfaction with general manager Scott Pioli and quarterback Matt Cassel.
The money to have the banner printed and flown was raised in less than an hour.
“There’s some passion behind that message,” said Corey Leuwerki, a pilot for company who made the message. “Because money is not normally raised this quick.”
It’s not just that the Chiefs are 1-3, with the lone win over a Saints team that has more problems at the moment than they do.
It’s the apparent lack of direction, and the lack of hope based on recent results.
The Chiefs have lost nine of their last 12 home games, four of them by at least 21 points.
Since the win came in overtime, they haven’t led for a second of game time this year, trailing in 204 of a possible 249 minutes.

A group of disgruntled Chiefs fans hired an airplane to fly a banner over Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City on Sunday to express their dissatisfaction with the organization. The banner’s message stated: “We Deserve Better! Fire Pioli – Bench Cassel.” It was paid for by a bunch of hardcore Chiefs fans who frequent the forum at ChiefsPlanet.com. The Kansas City Chiefs have been absolute garbage so far this year. They’re 1-4 and outside of a few plays by running back Jamaal Charles and wide receiver Dwayne Bowe, mostly when the games have been out of reach, they have played horrendous football. Dare I say they have been the “Kansas $hi**y Chiefs.”
As has happened in stadiums all over the country, KC fans have...
Kansas City quarterback Matt Cassel left Sunday's game after taking a big hit and was seen walking to the locker room.Fantasy Spin:Chiefs fans were already calling for Cassel's benching. The Chiefs managed only three points in the first three-plus quarters with Cassel going 9-of-15 for 92 yards and two interceptions. Brady Quinn replaced Cassel.
Struggling Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Matt Cassel sustained a concussion in Sunday's loss to Baltimore, according to Pro Football Talk.
Cassel's job was already in jeopardy and now it looks like Brady Quinn will step in as starter. The Chiefs play in Tampa Bay next week.
The Kansas City Chiefs fans proved just how much they dislike Matt Cassel when they cheered while the quarterback laid on the field after a crushing blow that knocked him out of the game.
Even though Cassel has not lived up to expectations since being aquired from New England after the 2008 season, cheering an injury is just bad taste. It is one thing to urge a player to be benched for poor
Have things hit an all-time low in Kansas City? Sure looks like it. At 1-4 on the season (and 0-3 at home), Chiefs fans look like they have had enough. Things got especially ugly yesterday after Matt Cassel was knocked out of the game with an apparent concussion…and the crowd cheered as he lay motionless on the ground. The photo (above) was taken at yesterday’s tailgate, before...

Something unthinkable has happened in Kansas City, something far more significant and sad than the fact the Chiefs are an utterly awful 1-4 football team.
One of the binding characteristics of this city has been a special connection between its football team and its fans. I've lived here for six years, and during that time I've been struck by the special rhythm that existed...
Classless, sickening, pathetic, and sad were supposed to be words I would use to describe the Chiefs play this week, but instead I have to turn those words in another direction. After another dismal performance by the Kansas City Chiefs offense I was prepared to do what seems like habit now and rip them apart. I was ready to point out with another four turnovers by Matt...
