According to sources, Orlando Brown Jr. turned down the Chiefs last offer of a 6 year, $144 million contract with a $30.25 million signing bonus. A lack of security with no guaranteed money after the first 2 years derailed any agreement. Brown Jr. is betting on himself.

Brown Jr. and the Chiefs were unable to reach a contract extension by the mid-July deadline, but it was expected that he would "soon" sign his franchise tender. He will earn $16,662,000 on the franchise tag, which according to ESPN, represents the average of the top five salaries at his position.
The 26-year-old Brown spent the first three years of his NFL career with the Baltimore Ravens — securing Pro Bowl nods in 2019 and 2020 — before being traded to Kansas City in April 2021 and earning his third straight Pro Bowl honor last season.
The Oklahoma product joins the likes of Joe Thuney, Creed Humphrey, Trey Smith and Andrew Wylie along the Chiefs' projected starting offensive line.
