Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes on preseason game vs. Bears: 'I like to get in there and get hit one time'

Injuries during the NFL regular season are frustrating, yet inevitable. Players -- specifically starters -- going down in preseason games are typically an area of contention between coaches, fans and members of the organization.

Teams usually try to balance getting their starters some playing time prior to Week 1 of the regular season but not go overboard and risk injury.

The Kansas City Chiefs travel to face the Chicago Bears in their preseason opener on Saturday and head coach Andy Reid said Thursday that each quarterback will play for one quarter during the contest. That includes four-time Pro Bowler Patrick Mahomes.

The 2018 MVP spoke Thursday about what he is looking to accomplish in Week 1 of the preseason.

Kansas City's second preseason tilt will be Aug. 20 against the Washington Commanders, and their final preseason game will be Aug. 25 against the Green Bay Packers. Mahomes and company open the regular season on Sept. 11 on the road against the Arizona Cardinals.
