KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) The Chiefs have released linebacker Bryan Kehl to create a roster space that coach Romeo Crennel plans to fill later this week. Crennel announced the move Wednesday, saying: "He was expendable, so I expended him." Kehl has played in 62 games over four-plus seasons with the Chiefs, New York Giants and St. Louis Rams. He played in 14 games and started once last season for St. Louis, and had been active in three games for Kansas City after getting signed midway through this season. Crennel wouldn't say how he plans to use the open roster spot. It may depend on the Chiefs' injury situation, particularly along the offensive line.

Not exactly the hey-we-got-nothing-to-lose approach you might expect from a team that was 1-9 and riding a seven-game losing streak coming into the game. But Crennel defended his...

1-10 Chiefs OK with conservative approach

It's Week 12 and the Kansas City Chiefs already have nothing to lose. They've dropped eight straight games to be officially eliminated from playoff contention. They lead the NFL in turnovers, haven't scored a touchdown in more than 11 quarters and still have just one lonely win during one of the worst seasons in franchise history. Time to throw caution to the wind,...

Chiefs rise up, fall down to level of opponent

The Chiefs have been something of a rollercoaster this season, though not in terms of wins and losses. They've been quite consistent at losing. It's their performance that's been uneven, and it's often dictated by their opponent. When the Chiefs have played one of the league's top teams, such as the Steelers or Broncos, a motley bunch that's lost eight consecutive...
