Chiefs’ Travis Kelce Sends Big Message To NFL Tight Ends
Mark J. Rebilas-USA TODAY Sports

Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce recently secured a groundbreaking contract extension with the team.

While his achievements have undoubtedly set a new standard for tight ends, Kelce aims to elevate the entire landscape for players in his position.

In a recent episode of the New Heights podcast, Kelce expressed his gratitude to the Chiefs for finalizing the deal. He also credited the team for contributing to “moving the needle for the tight end room” on a broader scale.

Kelce envisions his contract, along with similar ones, improving the Average Annual Value (AAV) for every tight end seeking new deals in the future.

“I’m so excited and so thankful to this organization for getting it done, making me feel appreciated and compensated the right way and on top of that I got to move the needle for the tight end room,’’ Kelce said. “It’s everyone else’s job to keep making that tight end AAV go up and up with every single contract that’s better than mine in the future.”

Kelce’s new contract amounts to an impressive $34.25 million over the next two years, placing him among the elite ranks of all NFL pass catchers, not just tight ends.

Yet, Kelce’s achievements throughout his NFL career with the Chiefs are truly remarkable. He already holds the postseason record for receptions and stands poised to potentially surpass all remaining postseason records for a pass catcher before retiring.

Following this new deal, fans can get excited to see Travis Kelce continue dominating the NFL for a few more years.
