Vikings coach Brad Childress raised some eyebrows when he dumped Bobby Wade, the team's leading receiver in each of the last two seasons, and replaced him with Greg Lewis. The move seemed especially questionable, since Lewis was slated to cost the team about $900,000 less than Wade for the 2009 season. In addition, Lewis was inactive for the first two games of the season. But, Lewis justified his entire 2009 salary -- and Childress' instincts -- with one catch. Lewis only played four snaps, but he literally won the Vikings a game, something that cannot be overstated in a 16-game season. Over the first 59 minutes, the 49ers outplayed the Vikings. But, with a single throw, Brett Favre and Lewis -- as well as the outstanding blocking of the offensive line -- bailed out the Vikings. Just to recap: Childress recognized something in Lewis, when he was an undrafted rookie out of Illinois in 2003. I'm sure he had something to do with Lewis remaining a part of the Eagles rost...
