It’s going to be fun in Philadelphia for the 2013 season, coach Chip Kelly has his own way of explaining what he wants on defense, and it’s basic straight to the point. Kelly, ever the sophisticated offensive mind has a brutally simple philosophy on defense. There is two ways to go when building a defense, small based on speed or big dependent on strength. Kelly is prescribing to the latter. 4-3 defenses are typically smaller with speed, and 3-4 defenses rely on being physical. Kelly has already decided to go with a 3-4, which needs big and long defenders who can win at the point of attack, not run around it. "You have to adjust to what you have. No one is starting from Square 1 and saying, 'How do we build a perfect defense, offense, and special teams?'" Kelly said, via Jeff McLane of Philly.com.
