Tight end Chris Cooley believes he’ll be playing for the Washington Redskins in 2012,  despite the injury woes he’s faced over the past few seasons.  “I have no doubt that I’ll be here,” Cooley said. “I’m excited to continue to be a part of this team and to continue playing the game that I love.” Cooley isn’t concerned about his knee,  despite undergoing arthroscopic knee surgery about a year ago and still having problems with it this season,  that ended up landing him on injured reserve. “I’m not worried at all about my playing my best football and I’m not worried about proving anything to anyone,” he said. “I know I’m a good player, and I’m going to do everything that I can to come out and play well for the team. And beyond that, there’s not a chip on my shoulder, there’s nothing that I’m trying to prove. I just want to be productive, I want to win games, and I want to have fun.” I believe Cooley will be back next season.  Especially since tight end Fred Davis is...

Chris Cooley certain he’ll be back with Redskins

Tight end Chris Cooley played in only five games this season and finished two of the past three seasons on injured reserve. Still, he has no questions about his future in Washington. “I have no doubt that I’ll be here,” he said. “I’m excited to continue to be a part of this team and to continue playing the game that I love.” Read full article >>

2012 NFL Mock Draft: Redskins Have Several Choices

The Washington Redskins have no excuses this year as to why they couldn’t pick a quarterback for the  2012 season. There are some good quarterbacks in the 2012 NFL Draft that could make an impact. So let’s “go there”: Who would be a good fit for the Washington Redskins? If the 2012 NFL Draft were held today, here are the players I would expect the Redskins...

Kerrigan Quietly Mic’d On NFL’s ‘Sound FX’

It recently came to my attention that Redskins rookie linebacker Ryan Kerrigan was featured on the NFL Network’s show “Sound FX,” which features microphone’d players and whatever they have to say over the course of a game. The microphone in his helmet was used to catch his interactions between teammates, coaches and opponents during the Redskins-Vikings game...

Rocca Came Here To Win A Championship

AP Image Shortly before Christmas, I had the opportunity to talk football with Australian Broadcasting Corporation correspondent Craig McMurtrie and his cameraman Louie Eroglu at Redskins Park. It turned out that not only has Redskins punter Sav Rocca been a punting stud in Washington this season, but he’s also turned heads 10,000 miles away in his native Australia.  The reason...

Redskins Have Their Very Own ‘R.G.3′

Click to view slideshow. While I typically focus my energies on professional football, one of the top names in all of football this year was Heisman Trophy winner Robert Griffin III, affectionately dubbed “R.G.3″ What most Redskins fans fail to realize is that the Redskins had their very own ‘R.G.3′ under center this season, in Rex Grossman III.  Seriously...

Cowboys-Giants outrates Redskins-Eagles in Washington market

The conventional wisdom is that Washington is unlike many other East Coast sports cities in fairly obvious ways. Here’s another piece of evidence: In all 30 NFL markets, the most-watched television show last week involved an NFL game. (The 49ers and Raiders, and Jets and Giants share a market.) In 27 of those markets, the most-watched television show last week involved the home...

Redskins' logos still subject of court battle

A years-long effort to cancel six Washington Redskins' federal trademarks is scheduled for trial next month before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office's Trademark Trial and Appeal Board, according to board documents. The petition by five Native Americans, Blackhorse vs. Pro-Football, Inc., asserts the team's name and logo are offensive. ...

Season Ending Power Rankings Roundup

AP Image Power rankings are designed to be equivalent to an approximate rankings of NFL teams, No. 1-32.  What it actually turns into is an over-hyped barometer that shamelessly follows winning and losing streaks, and has no ability to predict future results. In other words, it’s pointless in principle, product and practice.  But they are fun when your team is winning. Throughout...

Redskins considering ex-Buccaneers coach Morris as DB aide

The Washington Redskins are considering Raheem Morris for a position coaching defensive backs, according to league sources.
