A lot of noise was made this week when San Francisco 49ers cornerback Chris Culliver spoke in an interview on media day that he wouldn’t accept a gay player on his team. Culliver really made a big no no with his words because I don’t care who tells you that this is confidential, it isn’t. If you’re an athlete or any kind of celebrity, this is big news that the media will eat up.Culliver came back and said that he didn’t mean to say this and he apologizes to the fans and to San Francisco. Come on! You know the team and people close to him made him come out and make this kind of apology. If you say something that you believe in, stand by it because we all know that’s the deal.I really believe that many players in the NFL feel the same way Culliver feels but they wouldn’t dare to come out and say those kinds of statements to the press. Today homosexuality has been a touchy subject to talk about and with how the country is moving in this direction of fighting for gay rights and same sex marriage, it’s something a player just shouldn’t get involved in making those remarks.Everyone in life has their own personal and sexual preferences but we live in a world where it isn’t acceptable to be gay in the football world. I believe being homosexual should be embraced by NFL players because we live in a different America. This country is about having opportunities and for people being who they are. Watching CNN this week when the news showed Culliver and his comments, I wasn’t shocked one bit. This is the secret society of how players look at homosexuality in the NFL.
