Chris Thompson is Washington Redskins’ fifth round pick this year. He has been limited in OTAs due to suffering a torn ACL in October. While Thompson is still about a full month away from being able to practice, the rookie running back is expected to compete for the spot behind starter Alfred Morris. In talks with Mike Jones of the Washington Post, Thompson says he knows his time will come soon. Alfred’s the guy, and they’re going to use me however they want to use me, whether it’s me coming out of the backfield, or in slot, wherever,” Thompson said. “We’ve got some smart coaches, so it’s just a good opportunity. It’s something I have to be patient with. … But I know my time will come… Thompson says he has been getting reps with Robert Griffin III who is also rehabbing ACL problems of his own. Griffin says he has been trying to hold Thompson back who sometimes tries to push it too hard. I try to keep it real calm for a little bit of practice,” Griffin said, “and then when you guys see [running back Roy] Helu come over there, that’s when [Thompson] starts revving up his reps and doing the routes because, you know, he doesn’t want to be shown up by the other guys. So I try to keep an eye on him.” There is a silver lining in this and Thompson has found it. Not many fifth round picks get exclusive time with the starting quarterback. If Thompson can impress Griffin during the rehab process, he knows Griffin will trust him on the field when his time truly comes. Brian Orakpo Wants To Be Both Comeback and Defensive Player Of The Year

We all know that 2013 will be an extremely important season for Washington Redskins outside linebacker Brian Orakpo. Two pectoral injuries with in 9 months ended his  2012 season only two games in. He is going to be an unrestricted free agent at the end of the 2013 season. Brian made some bold statements in an interview with Jim Corbett. Orakpo should be coming into training camp...

Robert Griffin III Gets His Groove On For Charity

The hopes and dreams of the Washington Redskins sit in the capable hands of their second-year quarterback, Robert Griffin III--and his knee. All throughout the off-season the talk surrounding Washington has been about that knee (when it hasn't been on people demanding owner Dan Snyder change the team's name). Is everything going smooth with his rehab? Is he going to be...

Brian Orakpo: “There’s no Reason why we Can’t be a top ten Defense”

The Washington Redskins went into last season with great expectations for their defense, believing the unit might have to do the heavy lifting while the offense broke in a rookie quarterback and tailback. What happened instead of course was Robert Griffin III and Alfred Morris became headliners as the league’s top rushing attack and one...

Leonard Hankerson still has to prove himself in Washington

Dan Graziano of believes that Redskins third-year wide receiver Leonard Hankerson still has to prove that he can be the complete player they need him to be. They do like Leonard Hankerson, their third-round pick from 2011. And while the rule on receivers is to look for the breakout in the third year, Hankerson may not be on track for that just yet since he lost so much...

Washington Redskins Potential Breakout Player of 2013: Pierre Garcon

I debated whether or not Pierre Garcon qualified as a breakout candidate. After all, Garcon got a 5 year, 42.5 million dollar contract from the Redskins as a free agent last off-season. However, he did that without making a Pro-Bowl or even having a 1000 yard season. The Redskins took a major chance giving Garcon that kind of money, banking on his natural athleticism and skill set...

Peter King: Very little doubt RG3 will be ready for week one

Peter King of believes that there isn’t much doubt that Redskins quarterback Robert Griffin III will be ready for week one of the regular season. Barring a setback, there’s little doubt Robert Griffin III plays the opener. Griffin had major knee surgery 21 weeks ago. Washington’s opener is 13 weeks from tonight. After watching him run sprints around the practice field...

Washington Redskins linebacker Brian Orakpo wouldn’t mind winning the NFL’s comeback player of the year award this coming season.  He would actually like to share it with quarterback Robert Griffin III. “If we can both get Comeback Player of the Year honors, that would be remarkable, that would mean we did something special as a team,” Orakpo told USA TODAY Sports after...

Washington Redskins Alfred Morris plays paintball with some fans

There are few NFL players like Washington Redskins running back Alfred Morris and as a group of guys out on a bachelor party found out, he will be willing to play paintball with you. We'll let the talented Sarah Kogod inform you with the rest: According to CaptainCrookedFoot on Reddit, Morris did just that when he ran into a group of fans playing paintball.  “We...

Roy Helu Is Healthy For OTAs

Washington running back Roy Helu ended last season on injured reserve (leg/toe), but appears to be healthy through the team's first OTAs.Fantasy Spin:The Redskins running back situation is easy - a rare feat when Mike Shanahan is your coach. Alfred Morris is the starter and the remainder (Helu., Evan Royster, Chris Thompson, Jawan Jamison) are fighting for the backup and reserve roles.

Brian Orakpo: Goal is to Win Defensive Player of the Year

Washington Redskins linebacker Brian Orakpo told USA Today after practice Thursday that it is incredible realistic that he and teammate Robert Griffin III could compete for more than just Comeback Player of the Year Awards. Robert Griffin III Says He’ll Play Week 1 ‘Without a Doubt’ After Offseason ACL, LCL Surgery

It appears that Robert Griffin III‘s recovery from knee surgery is going more like Adrian Peterson‘s and less like Derrick Rose‘s. Griffin told Peter King of Sports Illustrated that he’ll be back Week 1 “without a doubt.” King agreed with Griffin after what the SI columnist saw while watching the second-year quarterback in practice on Thursday. King said he saw RGIII...
