Christian Kirk moves into history books alongside Jaguars' royalty
Nathan Ray Seebeck-USA TODAY Sports

The Jacksonville Jaguars made a move two offseasons ago to sign Christian Kirk to a deal that everyone thought was blasphemous. Since then, he has seemingly been one of the best receivers in the league.

He has easily been the best receiver on the Jaguars, even with the addition of Calvin Ridley. He has shown that this year, too. The Jaguars have a special 1-2 punch on the outside.

So much so that Kirk, with his one catch on the day, moved into the history books alongside some of the biggest Jaguars' royalty. With his first catch, Kirk did something only Jimmy Smith has done. Here is what Michael DiRocco tweeted out about the statistic:

Jaguars WR Christian Kirk's 26-yard catch gives him 11 consecutive games with a 20-plus yard reception, tying Jimmy Smith for the longest streak in Jaguars history, per Elias.

First, let's start with Jimmy Smith, who should be in the Hall of Fame. Now that that is out of the way, being compared to Smith is great, and having a record like that one feels impossible to accomplish.

Kirk ended up leaving after his one catch, as when he came down, it looked like he had pulled a hamstring. But Kirk has been brilliant for the Jaguars and really was the reason the Jaguars could break open the game in the first place.

He is one of the few guys who plays in the slot and outside at an elite level, and on that play, he beat the zone coverage, and Lawrence found him perfectly. Hopefully, Kirk is fine because the Jaguars will need him.
