Tweet Former first round draft pick Christian Ponder’s days may be numbered with Minnesota Vikings, for a couple reasons. For one, he hasn’t been the franchise quarterback the Vikings expected him to develop into after they took him 12th overall in 2011. Secondly, the Vikings have brought in a couple QBs in the last few months that are just as capable of starting as Ponder is, first by signing Matt Cassel during the summer and then by adding Josh Freeman for the rest of the season a few weeks ago. Ponder is 0-4 as a starter this season, and has just one more year guaranteed on his contract, with the Vikings holding an option for a fifth season, which they almost certainly won’t be picking up. If that wasn’t proof enough that Ponder may be looking to take his talents elsewhere, he has now put his million-dollar home near Lake Minnetonka on the market, per the Star Tribune: The 5,540-square-foot home is in a gated neighborhood in the community of Tonka Bay. It has five bedrooms, eight bathrooms (four full; four partial), tennis courts, exercise room, hot tub, boat dock access, three-car garage. The price on the Coldwell Banker Burnet’s new listing for the 12-year-old home is $1.095 million. Ponder bought the two-story brick and stone home in July 2012 for $880,000 from Xcel Energy CEO Ben Fowke. Ponder, 25, and ESPN reporter Samantha Steele were married five months later. As news of the listing came out, Samantha Ponder said Thursday on Twitter that “we haven’t lived in that house since June.” Even if Ponder putting this house on the market isn’t a sign that he plans to move on from the Vikings (which we don’t believe for a second), it has to be bittersweet to part with such a lovely home after living in it for roughly less than a year. Maybe the annual $23,000 fees for taxes and monthly association fees were too steep for his liking. In any case, if you’re interested in living in a near-mansion off of Lake Minnetonka, hit up Ponder’s real estate agent. You can find more info on the listing here. -ALR
