The Percy Harvin situation continues to stay volatile in Minnesota. If the Vikings organization decides to cut bait and move on without the speedy receiver, it would be a monumental blow to an offense that already needs to add weapons around quarterback Christian Ponder. General manager Rick Spielman and crew will decide Harvin’s future with the team, but their quarterback is hoping that the front office finds a way to retain Harvin, says NFL.com’s Marc Sessler.
“Obviously we want Percy back,” Christian Ponder recently told KFAN-FM, via SportsRadioInterviews.com. “He’s a tremendous player and he’s a Viking. And those are tough shoes to fill and we don’t want to fill them. He’s a heck of a player and a heck of a part of this offense and this team in general. Of course we want him back.”
Ponder has a very strong relationship with Harvin, as does any quarterback with his top receiver.
“Yeah … during the offseason last year (we) spent some extra time together and we had conversations, and he was great for me,” Ponder said. “He was like, ‘If you’re ever watching film, shoot me a text or call me and tell me I need to be watching this.’ Yeah, we had a good relationship.”
It would certainly be a hard transition for a young quarterback such as Ponder to drive the offense with the limited weapons that the Vikings have outside of Harvin. Veterans Jerome Simpson and Michael Jenkins aren’t exactly go-to receivers. Greg Childs missed all of last season after having surgery on both knees, but if he ever gets healthy he has the potential to be a contributor.
Per ESPN’s John Clayton, the Vikings have over $16 million in cap space to work with this offseason. Re-signing Harvin to a long term deal is likely to cost the team at least $10 million per season.
While it’s not out of the question that Harvin could get that new deal before the start of the 2013 season, it’s not a deal that the Minnesota front office feels it has to make while Harvin is still on his rookie contract. Spielman has made it clear that the team does not intend to trade Harvin, but Harvin is reportedly ready to hold out of training camp. Let the contract battle begin.

There is no doubt the Minnesota Vikings wide receiver Percy Harvin is one of the best young skill position players in the National Football League. He is one of the most versatile wide receivers in the league. The Vikings, however, to be ready to trade him. As absurd as that might sound it might be the right move for the future of the Vikings. During the first half of the regular...

For years now, I've known Vikings right tackle Phil Loadholt in two ways ... First, I'm pretty sure he eats people, and two, he's always getting flags pulled on him for false starts and holdings. This is why they probably don't let fans make personnel decisions, though.
Aside from being large enough to hide children in his sweatshirt pockets, Phil Loadholt has...
The Minnesota Vikings don’t want to pay Percy Harvin Megatron money, and they don’t intend to trade him, so we have a stalemate.
The one thing that is for certain judging from some of Harvin’s teammates, is that he’s wanted. Vikings quarterback Christian Ponder was on KFAN recently, and made it clear that his teammates want Harvin back.

Last Thursday, the Minnesota Vikings finally revealed their long rumored new Norseman logo. The changes were ... subtle. But that doesn't exactly mean they were bad. Let's keep in mind that the other, most recent changes the team have made have sucked, including the updated uniforms. The stylized helmet sperm? Not awful, but also unnecessary. Regardless, the final product...
Percy Harvin had “nothing to say” about rumors he is unhappy with the Vikings again and that the team may be looking to trade him.
One of the off-season storylines floating around the NFL is the future of Minnesota Vikings Wide Receiver Percy Harvin. Though he isn't a free agent, the Vikings are still apparently ready to trade him away. And one potential landing spot could be the New England Patriots.

It may be hard for you to remember, but Percy Harvin once played for the Minnesota Vikings in 2012. It's true. He actually was doing pretty super, as well. He was being talked about heavily as an early MVP candidate in the NFL (sorry dude, it ended up going to Adrian Peterson instead!), and he was key in helping a young team jump out to an early, and surprising, 5-4 record. It...
Donovan McNabb clearly is not a big NASCAR enthusiast. Much like football, auto racing is not for everyone. On Sunday, Danica Patrick became the first female driver to ever win the pole in a Sprint Cup Series race. The fact that she accomplished the feat at the Daytona 500 makes it even more noteworthy.
By topping 196 mph in one of her qualifying laps, Patrick earned the right to...
Donovan McNabb was a very good quarterback, media savvy and an astute businessman from what I hear. With that being said he has been known to make a curious comment or two.
He didn’t know NFL games could end in a tie and then there was this.
Congrats to the Illinois native Danica Patrick on her win today. The first female to win in a big race with this magnitude. Big win
Danica Patrick became the first woman in history to win the pole position of a NASCAR Cup Series race on Sunday when she won the pole of next Sunday’s Daytona 500 with a qualifying speed of 196.434. She’ll be on the pole next to Jeff Gordon, who finished second, next Sunday. The race, again, will be next Sunday.
