At the time of the 2011 NFL Draft, the Cincinnati Bengals had a lot of holes to fill. We can look back now, with amazement, at how successful the team has been at accomplishing this task. The process of building this team had clearly started long before that draft, but when draft day rolled around, the Bengals used the number four overall pick to select A. J. Green, wide receiver, out of Georgia.Green hit the ground running in the NFL, breaking team and league rookie records hand-over-fist. He earned a Pro Bowl bid as a rookie (along with draft mate, quarterback Andy Dalton) and has not looked back. Green increased his production during his sophomore season, returning to the Pro Bowl, and now listens as his name is mentioned, with regularity, among the greats of the position.Along with Green, nearly all of the other holes in the roster have been addressed. One spot, however, that many fans seem to be concerned about is opposite Green at the second wide receiver position. It seems the...

On Monday, free agent CB Terence Newman tweeted that he expects to sign with either the Bengals or Raiders by the end of the week, via the Cincinnati Enquirer.
Newman, 35, is coming off a very productive season for the Bengals and should feel fortunate that he has options at this point in his career given that other cornerbacks have really struggled on the open market this year...
The Bengals have signed middle linebacker Rey Maualuga to a new contract, another move to keep the league's sixth-ranked defense virtually intact.
Maualuga was a second-round pick from Southern California in 2009. He has had some rough times during his transition to starter, with coach Marvin Lewis challenging Maualuga and quarterback Andy Dalton to become more vocal leaders...
Marvin Lewis can build his team without your help, OK?
The Bengals coach got defensive Sunday when talking about what Cincinnati has done in the free-agent market so far. While the Bengals signed several of their own players before free agency opened Tuesday, they have signed only one player — also one of their own — since.
Lewis said the team has looked at several players and...
The Cincinnati Bengals are less focused on the free agent market, and more on locking up their core players. NFL.com is reporting that the Bengals have agreed to a two-year $6.5 million deal with linebacker Rey Maualuga.
“Rey is a big, physical guy who plays with a lot of passion and energy,” linebackers coach Paul Guenther said. “He knows the defense and he can play a couple...
The Cincinnati Bengals are not interested in signing any veteran free agent wide receivers. On Sunday, Paul Daugherty of the Cincinnati Enquirer urged the team to stop sitting on its hands and be more active in free agency. In particular, he said the Bengals need to bring in a veteran receiver presence rather than stick with Mohamed Sanu as the team’s No. 2 receiver behind AJ...
Marvin Lewis was a little feisty in these comments, when asked by reporters, why the Bengals aren’t making a bigger splash in Free Agency.
“Mo Sanu [is] way ahead of where one certain receiver [Johnson] was in his second year playing in the National Football League. I’ll go on record saying that,” Lewis told Joe Reedy of the Enquirer. “That’s the uneducated putting dumb...
On Saturday, it was clear that there's a new Kyle on the block.
Yes, Kyle Busch continued his winning ways at Bristol Motor Speedway while extending his record for most career victories in the Nationwide Series to 53.
But in the closing laps of the 300-circuit bout, it was Kyle Larson not only nipping at Busch's bumper but actually muscling alongside to contend at the finish...
The Bengals signed middle linebacker Rey Maualuga to a new contract, the fourth free agent defender to return to the team.
Ryan Fitzpatrick got cut from Buffalo Bills, but he is in need of a landing spot to re-build his career. One place could be the team he left to join the Bills in 2009 - the Cincinnati Bengals own website reports that Fitzpatrick met up with head coach Marvin Lewis at the NFL Annual meeting in Phoenix, Arizona.
Fitzpatrick is one of the few top quarterbacks available on the free...
