Cincinnati Bengals Joe Burrow Starts Strict New Diet Ahead Of 2024 Season
Katie Stratman-USA TODAY Sports

The Cincinnati Bengals struggled last year because of the health of quarterback Joe Burrow. He came into the year with a calf injury though he was able to start in week 1. Soon after that, he was healed, but he suffered a wrist injury that ended his season. With the current salary cap constraints for the team, this is likely the last run for the current version of the Bengals. How is Burrow making sure he stays healthy in 2024? A new diet.

Cincinnati Bengals Joe Burrow On A New Diet

Joe Burrow has been taking his health seriously in the offseason. The success of the Cincinnati Bengals depends on it. Burrow has been vocal about how good he feels at this point in the offseason.

“We’re bigger. Definitely bigger. We’ll see where I’m at at the end of the offseason. I feel good about where my body is right now. I’m going to continue to get stronger and bigger throughout the offseason and just play it by ear, depending on how I feel. Like I said, I’m in a good spot right now. I’m really strong, bigger than I was. We’re going to continue to eat right, lift and go through my routine and see where I’m at.”

What’s changed? According to the Cincinnati Bengals strength and conditioning coach, his diet is making sure his body recovers better.

“We wanted things that didn’t have him too full … That he wasn’t filling up too much on veggies first and missing out on the things of high caloric value and the things he needed to repair and restore. Just organizing things a little better. Having a better overall plan for what a week entails and what he needs calorically. It’s not simply, ‘Here’s a plate, just re-create this.’

2024 Outlook

The Cincinnati Bengals expect to be back in the conversation of the AFC’s elite. Once Joe Burrow went down last year, it was difficult to see a path to the playoffs. This roster has a lot of great pieces, but the quarterback is too important of a position. There is one concern for this team going into 2024. Both Trey Hendrickson and Tee Higgins have requested trades. So far, the Bengals are determined to keep both players, but if they are unhappy, the locker room could have issues.

It doesn’t help that the Cincinnati Bengals are in one of the toughest divisions in football. However, despite all of the turmoil in the past year, this team still has an elite quarterback with multiple All-Pro-caliber players throughout the roster.
