The Bengals got a pair of draft picks in exchange for Ochocinco
Former Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Chad Ochocinco was released yesterday by the New England Patriots after a single disappointing season in Foxboro. The Bengals received two draft picks in exchange for the former franchise WR. They spent the first one on S George Iloka, who has been impressive thus far in OTAs and could challenge Taylor Mays for a starting position. The other will come in the sixth round next year.
Combined with the draft picks received for trading Carson Palmer and Keith Rivers, the Bengals are making a nice little roster makeover in exchange for former stars who had outlived their usefulness in Cincinnati.
In addition to Iloka, the Bengals have Dre Kirkpatrick, who will possibly start at cornerback this season, and WR Marvin Jones who has been very impressive thus far in OTAs from the Palmer and Rivers deals. They’ll also have an additional second round pick in 2013 from the Raiders.
