TEAMS: Cincinnati Bengals, Houston Texans, Baltimore Ravens
Impending free agent linebacker Rey Maualuga acknowledged after his poor performance in the season-ending playoff loss to the Houston Texans that the Cincinnati Bengals might not welcome him back. When head coach Marvin Lewis recently outlined a plan to lock up the team's young stars, Maualuga's name was conspicuously absent.
Citing a source with knowledge of the situation, Thesidelineview.com's Adam Caplan confirms the Bengals will likely take a pass on re-signing Maualuga.
Don't be surprised if Maualuga ends up with the division rival Baltimore Ravens. General manager Ozzie Newsome and his staff reportedly had a high grade on Maualuga coming out of USC, there is an obvious need at inside linebacker with Ray Lewis retiring and Dannell Ellerbe scheduled to hit free agency.

Report: Rey Maualuga likely done in Cincinnati
According to Adam Caplan of TheSidelineView.com, the Cincinnati Bengals will likely pass on re-signing linebacker Rey Maualuga.
Maualuga played in a career-high 1025 snaps during the 2012 season, but struggled with game-to-game consistency. The former second-round pick out of the 2009 NFL Draft started all 16 regular season games for the first time in his career.
With Maualuga likely...
Bengals Notes: Michael Johnson & Andre Smith
Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network reports that Bengals HC Marvin Lewis hasn’t decided whether or not to use their franchise tag in the coming weeks.
“We’re going to continue to try to negotiate with our players, guys coming into their productive years,” said Lewis.
Albert Breer reports that there’s “not much traction” between the the Bengals and impending free agent...
Let the Bengals' speculating begin
INDIANAPOLIS This is the worst time of the year for Marvin Lewis. The only kind of football is not football at all.
"It's all speculative football," said the Bengals' head coach from inside Lucas Oil Stadium. "I know we're in the big show, but it's still speculative football. When we start doing football is when we get to July and August, that'...

While not flashy, Andy Dalton will not hurt you either. He enjoyed a solid sophomore year in which he passed for 3,669 yards on 528 attempts and 27 touchdowns. He quietly ran in another 4 pushing his touchdown total past 30 (31) although...
Marvin Lewis Says Bengals LB Vontaze Burfict Can Player Anywhere He Wants
Bengals linebacker Vontaze Burfict is expected to move inside as the team's starting middle linebacker next season.
Vontaze Burfict is the hovering excuse to shift Rey Maualuga either off the squad entirely or to SAM, where he was most productive during the first two seasons of his NFL career. Though there appears to be a battle of sources close to the situation announcing...
Draft Strategy: Running Backs
Another position headed for an overhaul is the running backs. Only BJGE and Dan Herron are signed with them team past March 11. With the rest as free agents, now is a perfect time to reshape a position that has been a significant culprit in the under-performing offense.
We know that BJGE will be back in 2013. But the guy who was supposed to switch off with him, Bernard Scott, will...
Kyle Larson DRIVE4COPD 300 Race Preview
Practice Makes Perfect… Spending nearly two weeks in Daytona and competing in 5 races prior to his NASCAR Nationwide Series (NNS) debut, Larson has spent plenty of time at the 2.5-mile superspeedway. Claiming an impressive second-place finish in the ARCA Racing Series Lucas Oil 200 last Saturday, the young driver gained some drafting experience in his first restrictor-plate race...
Draft Strategy: Secondary
When is the last time you can remember the Bengals having a formidable secondary? Not just good corners (Joseph/Hall), but an entire secondary? It’s been a while. You might cite the ’05 team that generated turnovers at a prolific rate, but I could also argue that their steep decline in ’06 indicated that they were more opportunistic that year than daunting.
After faltering...
Cincinnati Bengals To Use Cap Space On Own Players
No NFL team has more salary-cap space this off season than the Cincinnati Bengals' estimated $54 million. Head coach Marvin Lewis tells NFL.com's Ian Rapoport that the emphasis must be on re-signing and extending their own players rather than chasing free agents from other teams.
Lewis pointed to quarterback Andy Dalton, tight end Jermaine Gresham, Pro Bowl wide receiver...
