CINCINNATI -- The Bengals made six more moves on Tuesday to reach the NFL's 75-man roster limit deadline. Wide receiver Jasper Collins, tight end Kevin Brock, linebacker James Davidson and quarterback Matt Scott were all waived. Linebacker J.K. Schaffer and cornerback Lavelle Westbrooks were waived/injured, meaning should they clear waivers Wednesday afternoon they would revert to the Bengals' injured reserve list. Schaffer, a Cincinnati native who played at La Salle High School and the University of Cincinnati, has suffered two concussions this preseason. He signed with the Bengals' practice squad for the final eight games of the 2012 season and played nine games last season. Westbrooks was a seventh-round pick of the Bengals this year out of Georgia Southern. He has a thumb injury. Collins played at Division III powerhouse Mount Union and had three catches for 33 yards this preseason. The Bengals made five moves on Monday. They terminated the contract of cornerback R.J...

Bengals' Burfict remains unsigned, despite last week's report

The Cincinnati Bengals and weakside linebacker Vontaze Burfict had reportedly reached an agreement on a new contract last week. Every major and minor outlet reported the news, then there was nothing. Apparently a verbal agreement was made that was never signed. The news even had the numbers, 4 years $20 million. It seems something's amiss and Burfict himself isn't letting...

SLIDESHOW: Leon Hall catches his Cincinnati Bengals teammates sleeping

The Cincinnati Bengals got roughed up in their preseason game with the Arizona Cardinals last night. Three players had to be carted off the field in the fourth quarter alone. On top of that, the team had a long flight back home to look forward too. Understandably most of the guys were exhausted and caught a couple of Z’s on the flight back to Ohio. One guy who did not doze off...

Stanford, making him a free agent. They waived DT Larry Black, S Isaiah Lewis, K Quinn Sharp and fourth-year WR Ryan Whalen. Sharp made both his field goal attempts in Sunday night's...

Bengals' task: Win playoff game or else

CINCINNATI (AP) -- Even if the Bengals reach the playoffs for an unprecedented fourth straight season, it'll be considered mostly irrelevant unless they win at least one more. Harsh, but accurate. The defending AFC North champions are in what amounts to uncharted territory for their franchise. They've put together the best streak of regular-season success since their debut...

VIDEO: Digital Andy Dalton smokes Ravens in new Madden 15 gameplay footage

Yesterday was like a national holiday for football degenerates everywhere, because EA Sports released its latest version of Madden. The new game features a number of upgrades in the game engine (finally) which should mean a more realistic NFL experience. That’s all fine and good but to be honest what has impressed me most when I see clips of the new game is how stunningly realistic...

Bengals feel good after 3 preseason games

CINCINNATI (AP) Andy Dalton has looked sharp. The starting offense hasn't self-destructed. The starting defense has been stingy on the scoring. The Bengals like what they've seen through three preseason games, leaving them in good shape as they finish up and get ready for the ones that count. A 19-13 win in Arizona on Sunday night left the Bengals (1-2) in good shape. They...

Were any Cincinnati Bengals among the biggest heroes or goats from last week?

If any preseason game actually “matters,” it’s the ones that transpired this past weekend. They were the dress rehearsals for each team, when they let their starters play most of the first half and sometimes into the second. So it provided the best glimpse yet at who is, and who isn’t, ready to go in 2014. What players were at each extreme of the spectrum this week? To see...

Colts, Bengals happy with starters' showing so far

CINCINNATI (AP) -- Robert Mathis might as well enjoy it. The Colts linebacker will get to play the final preseason game on Thursday night against the Cincinnati Bengals at Paul Brown Stadium. Then he begins a four-game suspension for violating the NFL's policy on performance-enhancing substances. He claims he used a fertility drug to help his wife get pregnant. The Colts (0-3...

Dark Day for Bearcats in the NFL

Tuesday wasn’t the best of days for former Cincinnati Bearcats in the NFL. As the rosters crunch before the final preseason game, a couple of Bearcats were casualties.
