New York Jets linebacker Bart Scott could be handed a fine for showing a New York Post photographer the middle finger during a classless exit from the locker room.
Scott refused to speak to reporters Monday before making the obscene gesture at the photographer, saying, "Take a picture of this. Get out of my [bleeping] face."
An NFL spokesman confirmed the league was looking into the matter, ESPN reported Tuesday.
The hand gesture may been Scott's final significant act as a Jet if he is dumped in the offseason after a decline in his production in 2011, the New York Post reported.
Scott played a reduced role this season, coming off the field on most passing downs.
He is due a guaranteed $4.2 million in 2012, something he referenced on his way out the door when asked about a report that he would not be back.
"I don't know why, I've got a guaranteed contract for $4 million," Scott said.
