Now, you can’t tell me that during your Sunday sports coma you haven’t noticed the cheesehead linebacker with the flowing golden mane and arsenal of fancy footwork. Clay Matthews, #52 on the Green Bay defensive line, has been bringing in some big numbers and drawing a lot of attention. I can tell you one thing: it’s not just his dance moves.
Matthews by the Numbers
Matthews has been with the Packers for 3 years, during which he’s had 29 sacks, 128 solo tackles, and 4 interceptions for 109 yards. Matthews has also had three forced fumbles, as well as three fumble recoveries. He was the first Packer since 1982 to record sacks in double digits during his first two seasons in the league, and his 17 sacks over the course of his first 20 games were the most to start a career in the NFL. He was the first Green Bay rookie to be selected to the All-Star game since wide receiver James Lofton in 1978.
In 2009, Matthews’s rookie year, he was named to the Pro Bowl as well as the Pro Foot...

GREEN BAY, Wis. -- For a general manager like Ted Thompson, these are the types of days to look forward to.
On Monday, the NFL awarded the Green Bay Packers four compensatory draft choices. For Thompson, who has built the current Packers' roster almost entirely through the draft, this means four more opportunities to build upon a 15-1 team last season that is also just one...
GREEN BAY, Wis. -- Packers defensive end Mike Neal lost his appeal with the NFL in an effort to overturn his four-game suspension but insists he's not guilty of taking a performance-enhancing drug.On March 13, an NFL spokesperson said Neal "has been suspended without pay for the team's first four games of the 2012 regular season for violating the NFL policy on performance...
I was astonished to read something about the Packers at ESPN today. Regarding the signing of Jeff Saturday it is notable that the veteran center for Peyton Manning is the first unrestricted free agent signing for the Packers in three years. That led me to do some more digging and I found that the Packers are so proud of the way that their team is built that they have a “How The...
ESPN Milwaukee is reporting that Anthony Hargrove is headed to Green Bay. Hargrove’s Tweet:
Play with Pickett when he was a Ram. Going to be great playing with him again…
The 272-lb. defensive end may seem too small for the position in a 3-4, but generally if a player has success at both end and tackle in a 4-3 they can handle the end responsibilities in a 3-4. When he earned...
We dance for money T..
Green Bay Packers wide receiver Donald Driver is doing very well so far in the reality dance competition. Driver and his dance partner Peta did the Quickstep in week 2 — The judges were very pleased and said their performance was up there with the best dances of the night. They also admitted after watching a replay of last week’s show, they under-marked...
Normally the Green Bay Packers are very quiet this time of year, as General Manager Ted Thompson prefers to build his team through the draft instead of on the free agent market. However, counting on a rookie or young player to step up and fill a need does not always go as planned, and a veteran is needed.
Thompson is normally not fond of signing free agents, yet this year...
There is some interesting news floating around regarding Anthony Hargrove and the Green Bay Packers, as according to Aaron Wilson of Profootball.scout.com, Hargrove Tweeted this:
"not official but like i said green and yellow green yellow. can't wait for my first Lambeau Leap on game day. not yet but we screaming green and yellow green and yellow go packers go."...
In late February, a tweet from New England Patriots wide receiver Wes Welker tweeted that he had just finished shooting a commercial for Depend undergarments alongside Green Bay Packers linebacker Clay Matthews and Dallas Cowboys linebacker DeMarcus Ware. The finished product has been released — and I assume the release was not accidental (rimshot!) — [...]
