Doug Farrar from Sports Illustrated has included Greg Little in his “All-Overrated” offensive team this season. The 2013 edition is out today and I admit that I was a bit surprised to see Little’s name on the list. As for Little, he was selected in the second round of the 2011 draft, and we haven’t heard much from him since … except when we’re talking about the passes he drops. So, he’s less “overrated” in a media sense, and more overvalued in an organizational sense. He’smade all the right noises about taking the game more seriously this year. While I think there are a lot of questions that Greg Little needs to answer this season, I’m unsure exactly who it is that has Greg Little rated so highly that he can be considered “overrated.” Much of what Farrar says is true of Greg Little, but I don’t see anyone ignoring those warnings. Most notably, the Cleveland Browns hedged against Greg Little somewhat when they traded for Davone Bess. Most Browns fans and media that I talk to or read have him rated pretty appropriately as a guy with unharnessed potential and ability to eventually be a good number two receiver in the NFL. If projecting an athletic former second-rounder to prove to be a good number two receiver is overrating a player coming into his third year as an NFL player, then I am guilty as charged, I guess.
