Cleveland Browns Lose Harrison Bryant To The Las Vegas Raiders
Yannick Peterhans-USA TODAY Sports

The Cleveland Browns have made some decisions in the quarterback room this offseason, signing Jameis Winston and letting Joe Flacco hit the open market. Still, they also didn’t bring back another player who sometimes takes snaps under center.

Cleveland Browns Let Harrison Bryant Walk

Tight End Harrison Bryant left the Cleveland Browns on Wednesday and signed with the Las Vegas Raiders for one year and $3 million.

Bryant was taken in the fourth round of the 2020 NFL Draft out of Florida Atlantic. He was never supposed to be the tight-end one on the team, but he did fill an excellent role.

Bryant had to play behind tight ends Austin Hooper and David Njoku in his first two seasons in the league, and then the last two seasons just had to play behind Njoku due to the Browns parting ways with Hooper.

Bryant Would Take Snaps At Quarterback

Bryant was more than just a tight end; he would also take snaps under center on 3rd and 4th downs when the Browns had to pick up less than a yard.

Head coach Kevin Stefanski loved to put Bryant in those types of situations, and nobody could ever figure out why, but Bryant would come out to play quarterback, and he would either sneak it, or they would do some trick play where they would give it to one of the running backs.

The Current Tight End Room

The Cleveland Browns tight end room currently has David Njoku, who turned himself into one of the best in the league last season, and Jordan Akins, who signed with the team last season and played a few years with Deshaun Watson when they were both members of the Houston Texans and Zaire Mitchell-Paden who will most likely be a camp body.

The Browns will have to find another tight end either in the draft or free agency, but the Browns must make that a priority.
