After suffering a thumb injury in Sunday’s loss to the Baltimore Ravens, many expected starting quarterback Brandon Weeden to miss a week or two. What they did not expect is that head coach Rob Chudzinski would name third-string quarterback Brian Hoyer the starter over free agent acquisition Jason Campbell for Sunday’s road contest against the Minnesota Vikings. Watching this franchise since their return in 1999, fans in the city of Cleveland should have learned by now to expect the unexpected when it comes to their beloved Cleveland Browns. However, this move shouldn’t really surprise those in the media and the long-time fans of the team—especially with Michael Lombardi, a long-time supporter of Hoyer, sitting in the front office. The Browns went out of their way to sign Hoyer this offseason, despite already having two quarterbacks with many more starts under their belt on the roster. Lombardi had been quoted previously saying he thinks Hoyer could be a starting quarterback in the ...

For the Browns fans laughing about Hoyer’s chances of a win in Minnesota, you must have forgotten about the defense.

Some of the fans of the Cleveland Browns are actually laughing about the team’s chances of coming home with a win from Minnesota. These same fans are probably suffering short-term memory loss. They think because the Cleveland Browns traded Trent Richardson and are starting Brian Hoyer, the team doesn’t stand a chance. They completely forgot how dominant the Browns defense played...

Why count Cleveland out this week against the Vikings?

I am sorry, ever since Trent Richardson was traded a day ago, people have already labeled the Browns as a lock to get the first overall pick.  Well I disagree, I think the Browns can still win.  Listen, the day before the Browns traded T-Rich, they named Brian Hoyer the starting quarterback for week 3 […]

Cleveland Browns wave the white flag

Brian Hoyer was the first domino to fall. This morning around 10 AM, the Cleveland Browns announced that Brian Hoyer, their third-string quarterback who was inactive for the team’s game last weekend, would start in Minnesota on Sunday in place of Brandon Weeden. Weeden, of course, injured his thumb towards the tail end of the Browns week two loss in Baltimore. In just under two...

A new era in Cleveland Browns football begins

The Cleveland Browns have sucked for a long time. This much we know. Since they came to the league, they’re often mentioned with the Lions, Jets, and Jaguars as being the punching bag of the league. It’s easy to crack…Read more →

Brian Hoyer to start at QB for Browns this week

Browns third-string quarterback Brian Hoyer will start Sunday against Minnesota in place of Brandon Weeden, who sprained his right thumb last week. Cleveland surprisingly decided to go with Hoyer over more experienced backup Jason Campbell. Campbell came in for one series in the fourth quarter against Baltimore after Weeden injured his thumb when he banged it on a teammate's...

Defense/St Ride ‘Em or Hide ‘Em Week 3

Juan’s Getting Defensive With Vikings vs Browns Brian Hoyer headed to Minnesota for their hope opener.  Oh, and some guy on the Browns was traded today.  Do it, do it. Ride ‘Em Broncos vs Raiders The Raiders are going to get crushed this week.  Peyton will score at will and put all the pressure on Pryor to throw.  Mistakes ensue. Jets vs Bills The Jets D is still good to...

Why the Cleveland Browns Need to Start Brian Hoyer and Lean on Trent Richardson in Week 3

It has happened again. Through all the offseason optimism, the Cleveland Browns sit at 0-2 in the NFL standings, with no help in sight. The struggles of the Browns have come partially due to injuries, but overall, they have failed to get it done in the second half. Not being able to finish games has been a consistent theme for this franchise over the past few years, perhaps the only...

The Most Depressing Cleveland Browns Jersey Ever Gets Even More Depressing

Congratulations to you brave Cleveland Browns fans because you have a new starting quarterback! Let’s welcome third-string QB Brian Hoyer as the next tackling dummy. Former starter Brandon Weeden sprained his right thumb during Sunday’s loss to Baltimore, opening up the vacancy for Hoyer. The 27-year-old made one start for the Cardinals last season after spending the three previous...

No such thing as bad publicity, eh?

The Browns shook up the NFL (and lost, what, 75 percent of its remaining fan base?) when it shipped second-year running back Trent Richardson to Indianapolis for a first rounder in 2014 on Wednesday. But what time will likely forget is the way the day began in Cleveland. Sure, you can find analysis on the fantasy impact of Richardson playing behind Andrew Luck . But got anybody...

If Brian Hoyer gets the Browns a win Sunday, can the fans forget about the Brandon Weeden experiment? The answer is yes to this question.

The Cleveland Browns have sent the most loyal fans a team can have, into shock this week. First it was the news the team would give Brian Hoyer the start against the Vikings, then will out any warning at all, the team traded a fan favorite. Now, the fans think the Browns have thrown the season out with these decisions. Nothing could be further from the truth. Cleveland wants to win...

Browns Punt 2013

Brian Hoyer, starting NFL Cleveland Browns quarterback. Trent Richardson, Indianapolis Colts running back. Say what you like about tanking a season to try and draft a franchise QB. At least it’s an ethos. This team wasn’t going anywhere with Brandon Weeden, anyway. And even apart from Mike Lombardi’s impeccable track record, no one has a clearer direction than Joe Banner, nor...

Browns players shocked by Richardson trade

Several Browns players expressed shock at the team's decision to trade star running back Trent Richardson. Cleveland dealt Richardson to Indianapolis on Wednesday for a first-round draft pick next year, a move that came on the same day third-string quarterback Brian Hoyer was named this week's starter and wide receiver Greg Little lost his starting job. Linebacker D'...

The Browns may be moving on from Brandon Weeden

The Browns’ decision to start backup quarterback Brian Hoyer over injured starter Brandon Weeden makes perfect sense to anyone that’s observed the Browns over the past couple of seasons. So far in 2013, Weeden has been pretty poor, throwing for three interceptions and only one touchdown. In a young man’s sport, it’s strange that the Browns’ second year quarterback is...
