The Browns will finish off the 2012 season against the Steelers this Sunday in Pittsburgh.  After the game ends, we will not have to wait long to see Pat Shurmur fired.  Tom Heckert should follow him out the door shortly after.  And with that, the Haslam and Banner era of Cleveland Browns football will begin.Rumors are already running wild about how the Browns will hire as their next coach.  Rumors of Josh McDaniels, Nick Saban, and Chip Kelly are being discussed all over the web.  At first glance, it may seem like whoever the Browns hire will have a ton of work to do, in order to make the Browns into a contender.  But that may not be true.  Look at the talent on the Browns offense.  Joe Thomas and Alex Mack are both Pro Bowl offensive linemen.  Josh Gordon and Greg Little both proved to be solid receivers.  Jordan Cameron has shown some promise as a young tight end.  Trent Richardson and Montario Hardesty showed some good stuff as running backs.  And though Brandon Weeden had a roc...

Thaddeus Lewis taking first-team reps for Browns

Taddeus Lewis could go from playing with the practice squad to starting in an NFL game in just a week’s time. With shoulder injuries being sustained by both Brandon Weeden and Colt McCoy, it was the recently added Lewis who is taking first-team snaps during practice heading into the Browns’ Week 17 tilt against the Pittsburgh Steelers. On Christmas Eve, the Browns announced...

The Quicker The Browns Get Rid Of Pat Shurmur The Better Off The Team Will Be

The Cleveland Browns travel to Pittsburgh to take on the Steelers in what could very well be Pat Shurmur’s last game as the Cleveland Browns head Coach, we all hope. Shurmur as an offensive play caller in the NFL has failed miserably.  In the past four seasons Shurmur called plays that lead him to 18 wins and 46 losses, this includes his 2 years as the offensive coordinator with...

Change almost a certainty for Browns

The season is about to end for the Browns, and usually that means change is next. Two weeks ago, Cleveland still had a chance to make the playoffs. But two straight lopsided losses and a slew of injuries have placed the Browns in a familiar predicament as they prepare for Sunday's season finale at Pittsburgh. Coach Pat Shurmur is likely to be replaced next week, and new owner...

Browns vs. Steelers Reader’s Survey

It’s going to be the toughest game to predict all year in all likelihood. The Browns and Steelers don’t have anything to play for but pride and paychecks. The teams are a mystery right now at least on the Browns’ side of the equation as Brandon Weeden, Trent Richardson and even Colt McCoy are questionable at best and out in all probability. It could be the last game as a member...

Weeden, McCoy still sidelined for Browns

Browns quarterbacks Brandon Weeden and Colt McCoy are not practicing again because of shoulder injuries. Coach Pat Shurmur said both remain sidelined as Cleveland prepares for Sunday's season finale against Pittsburgh. Weeden and McCoy were hurt last week against Denver. Third-stringer Thad Lewis took all the snaps with the Browns' first-team offense in practice on Wednesday...

Hardesty's turn for Browns

BEREA If running back Trent Richardson is unable to play Sunday, it will be Montario Hardestys chance to start his first game of the season. Richardson injured his ankle near the end of the game and left Denver in a walking boot. Pat Shurmur hasnt ruled Richardson out, but he has yet to practice this week and is listed as doubtful. Richardson is just 50 yards shy of hitting the...

Browns' Cribbs apologizes for profane tweet

BEREA, Ohio (AP) -- Josh Cribbs has apologized for his profane tweet following the Cleveland Browns' latest loss. Cribbs said Wednesday that he was mad at himself for muffing a punt, angry that it contributed to a 34-12 setback in Denver, then enraged when he got several derogatory messages. He responded Sunday by sending out: "See all the negativity on twitter after I gave...

Browns Injury Report: Weeden, McCoy & Richardson All Remain Sidelined

The Cleveland Browns continued their practice preparations on Thursday for the Sunday season finale at Heinz Field against the Pittsburgh Steelers and their daily injury report is now out. Cornerback Sheldon Brown (head, foot), tight end Jordan Cameron (head), quarterback Colt McCoy (right shoulder), running back Trent Richardson (ankle) and quarterback Brandon Weeden (right shoulder...

Browns fans are very familiar with ugly season-ending games

So who is the backup for the backup? As Scott told us today, Thad Lewis, recently called up from the practice squad, got the first team reps today in Berea. That’s right. Not Brandon Weeden with a bum shoulder. Not Colt McCoy, also with a bum shoulder. Thaddeus Lewis. Just a reminder, Lewis is a 25-year-old from Duke with a much-heralded arm and some decent athletic ability. He’s...

Weeden, McCoy sidelined at practice

The Cleveland Browns are down to their third-string quarterback. With both Brandon Weeden and Colt McCoy missing practice Wednesday due to right shoulder injuries, Thad Lewis took first-team snaps in practice. Elevated from the practice squad on Monday, Lewis could make his NFL debut in Pittsburgh on Sunday. The Browns also signed free agent quarterback Josh Johnson, who spent...

Rookie QB Thad Lewis could start for Cleveland Browns vs Steelers

On Wednesday, the Cleveland Browns signed QB Josh Johnson to their roster but rookie QB Thad Lewis could get the start this week when the Cleveland Browns play their season finale against the Pittsburgh Steelers. The moves by the Browns were made necessary with Brandon Weeden and Colt McCoy both nursing shoulder injuries sustained last Sunday against the Denver Broncos. Neither quarterback...

Brandon Weeden, Colt McCoy Still Sidelined, Thad Lewis May Start At QB

Third-string quarterback Thad Lewis is one day closer to starting for the Browns. With Brandon Weeden and Colt McCoy not practicing again because of right shoulder injuries, Lewis worked with Cleveland's first-team offense on Thursday as the Browns prepared for Sunday's season finale against Pittsburgh. Weeden and McCoy were hurt last week against Denver, and although...

“Road Tested” still entertaining, still giving hope

Jimmy Haslam and Joe Banner were Photoshopped into the 2012 Cleveland Browns team photo at his direction. Not only is that a true statement, but Haslam chronicled it on the new documentary TV show, “Road Tested,” about the Cleveland Browns. Last night’s episode handled the Browns’ losses to the Washington Redskins and Denver Broncos. The losing isn’t what’s important...

Browns Ink QB Josh Johnson; Brandon Weeden, Colt McCoy Miss Practice

Browns third-string quarterback Thaddeus Lewis took reps with the starters today because rookie Brandon Weeden (sprained throwing shoulder) and Colt McCoy (sore throwing shoulder) did not practice today. If neither Weeden nor McCoy can play Sunday, Lewis would start for the Browns (5-10) in their season finale against the Pittsburgh Steelers (7-8) at Heinz Field. Lewis, who has...
