PLAYERS: Cliff Avril
TEAMS: Seattle Seahawks

According to,  defensive end Cliff Avril is expected to make his Seahawks debut on Sunday night against the 49ers. Avril has been dealing with a hamstring injury throughout the preseason. Avril returned to practice last week and was close to ready for the Panthers game, but the Seahawks gave him a little more recovery time. If he indeed plays Sunday in the most-anticipated game of the season (so far), it will be his first game in a Seahawks uniform after Seattle signed him away from the Detroit Lions in the offseason. Carroll said Monday that Avril seems ready to play, barring any unforeseen setbacks.     Need NFL Tickets? Loading... Seahawks want to send message to NFL, make statement against 49ers

Late in the 2012 season, the Seattle Seahawks made the statement that the 49ers were no longer the king of the hill. The four-touchdown beatdown seemingly showed that Seattle had passed the 49ers’ and was ready for football royalty. After losing three straight to Harbaugh, Carroll beat his rival and it seemed change the NFC landscape dramatically. Then, a month later, the...

The Seattle Seahawks stats don’t lie – Week 1

Red’s Return to Form In what we can all hope was the ugliest game in the Seattle Seahawks 2013 season, should any of us be surprised that it was Red Bryant that led the charge on defense? You didn’t misread that, and it certainly wasn’t a typo. Red Bryant came to play on Sunday, and was a pivotal player on the Seahawks defensive front. While I still find it difficult to comprehend...

Report: Seahawks Sign TE Kellen Davis

Pro Football Talk is reporting that the Seattle Seahawks have signed TE Kellen Davis. Seattle also brought in tight ends Dorin Dickerson, and Daniel Fells for workouts recently, but apparently Davis was the more impressive player. Davis, 27, signed with the Browns not too long ago, but was released as they reduced their roster to 53 players. The Buccaneers also showed some interest...

Seattle Seahawks Fans Send a “12th MAN” Flag Into Space

The ’12th MAN’ in Seattle refers to the Seahawks loyal fans, and if this video is any indication they are also a very smart bunch. Check out the video of a few die hard Seahawks fans decide that a 12th MAN flag needs to be in space, and they made it so. Chris Peterson, Brent Savell and Ryan Schutt are the Seahawks’ fans who ‘got bored one day’ and filled a weather balloon...

Sean Jenson of the Pioneer Press reports that former Vikings CB Antoine Winfield hasn’t filed his retirement papers with the league. “Any time a player of his stature makes that choice, you want to give them some time to make sure they’re at peace with that decision,” said Winfield’s agent Ashanti Webb. “I mean, there’s no rush.” Winfield, 36, was released by Minnesota...

Man Pays $115,000 At Auction For “12THMAN” License Plate

The good news (for those who think this is the 15th Seattle Seahawks story we’ve published over the last 24 hours) is that for the first time in god-knows-how-long, we have a 12th Man story that doesn’t involve a team from the Northwest. This story is 100% Texas-born and bred, as it involves a Texas A&M fan – Tony Buzbee, an attorney from Houston — who paid the hefty...

Seahawks a Point-Spread Machine

The Seattle Seahawks host the San Francisco 49ers in their home opener on Sunday night. Some readers may well have taken out their wallets after seeing the words “Seahawks” and “home.”

Anthony Dixon refers to Seattle as the She-Hawks

49ers running back Anthony Dixon referred to the Seahawks as the “She-Hawks” on Twitter. K.J. Wright of Seattle responded to Dixon, both players have since deleted their tweets. What’s really funny is that Dixon doesn’t even play that much.  It looks like his teammates will have to back up his boneheaded comment.     Need NFL Tickets? Loading... ZergNet ...

49ers, Seahawks rivalry gets better by the year

They engage each other in bitter verbal back and forth from their respective posts separated by some 800 miles of the Pacific Coast. They claim each other's waiver leftovers - not always, it seems, for a competitive advantage but rather in acts of gamesmanship. The men in charge, Pete Carroll and Jim Harbaugh, have been fierce rivals back to their college coaching days in the...
