The Arizona Cardinals are back at training camp for the first time in more than a week. Happy campers, they aren't. Not after the starters played poorly in the Hall of Fame Game preseason opener against the New Orleans Saints, then worse in Friday's loss in Kansas City. Coach Ken Whisenhunt says a few of the starters got it right in the 27-17 loss to the Chiefs. The rest have a lot of work to do, and Whisenhunt promised they will get their chance in prolonged playing time in Arizona's first home preseason game on Friday night against Oakland. Meanwhile, the competition for starting quarterback between Kevin Kolb and John Skelton seems nowhere near resolution.

Whisenhunt: No 'favorite' in QB battle

FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. -- Cardinals coach Ken Whisenhunt dismissed a report by ESPN.coms Adam Schefter that John Skelton has emerged as the favorite to win the starting quarterback job over Kevin Kolb. As far as favorites and long shots, I really havent ever thought of it in those terms, Whisenhunt said at his daily lunch-time press conference. Weve always been true to what weve said...

Cardinals approach Daryl Washington about long term extension

According to the Associated Press, the Cardinals have approached Daryl Washington about a long term extension and that the two sides have “talked back and forth,” though no official offer has been made. Washington, a 2010 2nd round pick, still has 2 years left on his rookie contract, but, with no players of note heading into contract years, it appears the Cardinals are looking...

Health concerns biggest issue for Cards' backs

FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. -- In the Cardinals dream 2012 scenario, running backs Beanie Wells and Ryan Williams will form such a powerful and explosive 1-2 punch to the Cardinals offense that the quarterback of choice will have little more to do than manage the game. It would be huge, said Kevin Kolb, one of two possible quarterback choices. We have a very talented backfield and it would...

Cardinals left without answers at quarterback after 2 games

The Cardinals have now played two preseason games, and they're still scratching their heads in an increasingly desperate search for a starting quarterback. In their most recent effort, Kevin Kolb was an embarrassing 1 of 5 passing with just 21 yards. His chief rival, John Skelton, didn't finish much better, going 3 for 6 with 35 yards and an interception. The question...

Cards' QB: What if it's none of the above?

FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. -- For the past eight months, the question has been: Kevin Kolb or John Skelton? Heres another to ponder: What if neither Cardinals quarterback is good enough to be an NFL starter? What if both are nothing more than backup quality? Thus far, the organization and even the media have defended the pair with a number of excuses. Kolb didnt have an offseason to learn...

By BOB BAUM AP Sports Writer While the starting quarterback competition is grabbing most of the attention at Arizona Cardinals camp, rookie Ryan Lindley toils away trying to win the No. 3 spot at the position. Skelton Frontrunner For Starting Job

Not that hard to beat out Kolb Juan… Kevin Kolb stinks.  Let’s just face facts.  He can’t read defenses, has happy feet with no feel for pressure, and has a weak arm.  It’s amazing what Andy Reid can do with a QB (I’m looking at you McNabb) and now the Cardinals are having buyers remorse.  After entertaining Peyton Manning and failing to sign the most coveted FA ever...
