No 2 Minute Warning:
Arizona expected to have interesting coaching search
Arizona announced Monday night that they had relieved Mike Stoops as head coach of the Wildcats. Here is my story on Examiner and here is the official release from Arizona. Defensive coordinator Tim Kish has been named the interim head coach for the remainder of the season and will coach his first game for the Wildcats against UCLA after a bye week this week. Kish is the 98th ranked defensive coordinator according to Coaches By The Numbers.
Perhaps the writing was on the wall with a 1-5 record and five straight losses, including a loss to Oregon State, but look at the schedule Stoops was faced with. In Arizona’s five-game losing streak the Wildcats lost games to Oklahoma State, Stanford and Oregon and a loss to USC is not exactly the worst loss. I can’t excuse a loss to Oregon State other than to say the Beavers were due. Stoops was 41-50 as a head coach at Arizona and always seemed to be on a hot seat after never g...

No close call this time. The Arizona Cardinals' fourth consecutive loss, a 34-10 drubbing by previously winless Minnesota, was the team's worst performance of the season.
The Cardinals (1-4) are 6-15 since Kurt Warner retired, and with a bye week ahead, there is no shortage of work to be done. Coach Ken Whisenhunt, who thought he had changed the franchise's long-entrenched...
No NFL team has ever played in a Super Bowl in their own stadium. That trend will obviously continue this winter with the Indianapolis Colts. However, the Arizona Cardinals will get a chance in 2015.
League owners awarded the 2015 Super Bowl to Glendale, Arizona, a suburb of Phoenix. They beat out Tampa Bay, the only other candidate. This will be the third time the Phoenix area...

At least we wont have to hear all week how the Cardinals are close to breaking through. Theyre not. Theyre done. Season over.
Think thats hyperbole? Fine. Go ahead and delude yourself. Were not buying the line anymore that there are plenty of games left to play. The sky has already fallen.
Following San Franciscos win over Tampa Bay on Sunday, the Cardinals are three games behind...
Arizona Cardinals safety Kerry Rhodes has a broken foot and will be sidelined for an undetermined amount of time.
Max Komar, a free-agent wide receiver who was released by the Arizona Cardinals last week, announced on his Twitter account that he is expected to sign with the Chicago Bears, perhaps as soon as Monday according to Brad Biggs of the Chicago Tribune. Komar was released from the Cardinals injured reserve list last week. He had been placed on IR with a knee injury suffered in preseason...
With the Arizona Cardinals at 1-4 and coming off a bad loss to the previously winless Vikings, coach Ken Whisenhunt is in a foul mood. “Am I angry?” he said Tuesday. “You’re damn right I’m angry. Am I upset? Yes, because I know what kind of team we can be, and I’m very frustrated for…
TUCSON, Ariz. -- It was a move that had to be made. At some point, Greg Byrne had to make the call to say it wasnt working.
Not just the winning or in Mike Stoops case, the losing but Byrne had to think of Arizonas athletic department and the future of the football program with fan dissention and possible defection after UAs 1-5 start.
Where Byrne goes now, in trying to find...
