And then there was one. No, I’m not talking about the number of teams in first place in the NFC West. That’s important too, but I’m talking about the real news, which is Colin Kaepernick being forced to shave one eyebrow off after getting embarrassed by Russell Wilson and the Seahawks. The bet started out as a friendly joke for a Madden commercial, but it picked up steam as their impending collision came closer and closer to happening, and it eventually turned into a big deal for sports fans. The two NFC heavyweights finally went at it Sunday night, and the Seahawks ended up slapping the eyebrows off of Kaepernick and the 49ers to the tune of 29-3. That makes it two straight blowouts for Seattle when they face the 49ers, albeit both have been at Century Link Field where the Seahawks are nearly indestructible. Seattle fans who were looking forward to seeing the 49ers star walk around with an eyebrow missing may be disappointed, however, as Russell Wilson earlier this week claimed that the best was not real. “It was more of just a friendly, joking around type deal. It’s not real serious. We’ll probably do something digitally. Something like that,” Wilson said. Shortly after the game, a Youtube video surfaced of Wilson taunting Kaepernick as he applied shaving cream to one eyebrow, and proceeded to shave it off in one fell swoop. While it is likely digital as Wilson said it would be, it was still a treat to watch the exchange of the two friendly rivals. I for one am still holding out hope that Kaepernick will show up to work tomorrow sporting one eyebrow, whether it be him shaving it himself, Wilson tackling him and shaving it for him, or extremist Seahawk fans sneaking into his house and shaving it in his sleep. Okay, maybe that last one won’t end so well.
