The Indianapolis Colts signed cornerback Dariuis Butler on Tuesday to bolster their depleted secondary. To clear roster space for Butler, the Colts released offensive lineman Trai Essex, who saw action in the team’s past two games. Defensive backs Vontae Davis (ankle) and Justin King (groin) are slowed by injuries, but with a bye this week, the Colts hope to have the two back in time for their next game against Green Bay. Butler was cut by the Carolina Panthers during training camp. He played two seasons for the New England Patriots but was released before the 2011 season. The 2009 second-round pick has made 14 career starts and played extensively on special teams.

Unforced Errors: Penalties Are a Killer

Jim Caldwell was not my favorite NFL coach.  That's putting it mildly.  Let's just say I pretty much despised the way he coached on the sidelines each week.  Nevertheless, Jim Caldwell's teams had one thing that Chuck Pagano could take a page from: penalties.   The Colts have already had issues this season with penalties, and this week's loss to Minnesota...

Indianapolis Colts: Austin Collie out for season

Indianapolis Colts receiver Austin Collie was injured in the third quarter of the Colt’s 22-17 loss to Jacksonville Sunday and did not return. Initially, it seemed as though he had sustained yet another concussion because the injury came as he was making a catch for a six-yard gain, and he took a shot to the head. . After the hit, he stayed down with little movement, eerily similar...

Following a Legend: Andrew Luck Week 3 vs. Jacksonville Jaguars

Andrew Luck came very close to his first NFL winning streak on Sunday, but the Colts were outdone in the final minute by a stunning 80-yard touchdown. It was only the 20th time since 1981 that a team took over in the final minute of the game and scored a game-winning touchdown. Last week we saw Luck make his first game-winning drive, and this time he was trying for his first comeback...

Jim Irsay's Tweets About Referees Mess Insult Fans, Show Owners Are Still Out of Touch

No deal is done yet, but apparently, after replacement officials...

Indianapolis Colts: Week 4 NFL Power Rankings (#20)

Record: 1-2 Last week: 20 (-1) Andrew Luck doesn’t have any help. He played well, but losing at home to Jacksonville is embarrassing. The good news is that they outplayed the Jaguars, despite the loss, and they should be getting healthier defensively soon, after the bye. They also have a very easy schedule and Andrew Luck is also the real deal, which is the most important thing...

Colts try to move on from wild finish against Jags

Colts coach Chuck Pagano is working on his speech for Tuesday's practice. ''You point out like we are doing, `Here's what we did well, but this is what...

All-22 Analysis - Evaluating the Colts Defense, Week 3.

Peaks and valleys seems to be the theme this year with the Colts, with an impressive first half showing on Sunday completely rendered obsolete in an awful loss at home to the Jacksonville Jaguars. The loss came as a result of some incredibly poor football, whether on offense or defense. The only unit I can assuage of any guilt would be the special teams coverage and return units...
