He might be a pretty harsh critic of impromptu music, but say this about Chuck Pagano: he’s establishing a brand with the Colts.

During Monday’s training camp practice, the first-year coach was notified by safety Tom Zbikowski that one attending fan (if you could call him that) was wearing a Steelers jersey.

The fan in question was Zach Simmons, a 24-year-old who was only there to flag down offensive coordinator Bruce Arians and running back Mewelde Moore.

”I’m trying to get Bruce Arians and Mewelde Moore’s attention,” Simmons said, via the Associated Press. ”I am still kind of in shock, but it was pretty cool for my buddies I came with.”

Both Arians and Moore held the same capacities in Pittsburgh for several years. Remember, Steelers fans travel everywhere and, quite literally, for any possible reason.

Unfortunately, Simmons’ plan was foiled after Pagano — at the behest of Zbikowski — gave him an Andrew Luck jersey, along with ultimatum. He’d either dress appropriately or find another place to show his pride.

”He (Zbikowski) saw it and said, `Look Coach we got to do something about that,”’ Pagano said. ”I went over there. He’s a huge (Bruce) Arians fan, obviously, and Mewelde Moore. So with a little bit of coaching and a brand new Andrew Luck jersey, I said, `Look, you’ve got to put this jersey on. If you do it, you get to stay, if not we’ve got to escort you out of here.”’

Of course, both men — Pagano, an ex-defensive coordinator, and Zbikowski — defected from the Ravens, so they’re still doing their duty to fan the flames of arguably the league’s best rivalry. However, there were no hard feelings for Simmons, who later got to meet GM Ryan Grigson and, yes, even fulfilled his dream.

”It’s kind of our motto. You are either all the way in or you’re all the way out,” Pagano joked. ”He wanted to see practice and Bruce so it was a good deal.”

A happy ending for all. Thank goodness he didn’t sing.
