The Colts came back to beat the Bengals in one of the more boring Colts games in recent memory.

Well, Andrew Luck and Drew Stanton didn't see much time on the field. Both saw a total of 3 series. It was Chandler Harnish who got most of the snaps, and actually didn't do that bad. His decision making wasn't great, but he made some great throws and his mobility was pretty good too. He's looking like a solid 3rd stringer and good long term backup.

As for the running backs, the guys at the top of the depth chart barely saw any time. Darren Evans and Deji Karim saw most of the carries. Karim didn't look that bad getting a touchdown and had some nice runs. It was against backups, but it shows he really wants the job and he's a hard worker. He'll get some consideration. Darren Evans was looking pretty good too, but then he fumbled, and threw away his chances of making the roster.

The receiving core was made up of the undrafted free agents. Kris Adams had himself a very good game, making some nice catches. He improved his chances of making the roster. Lavon Brazill had a pretty good game too. That was pretty much it.

As for the tight ends. Dominique Jones really stood out, especially with his 40 yard touchdown where he stiff armed a couple defenders. I think this game alone secured his roster spot. Dwayne Allen had a nice catch early on too. He's been showing off his receiving skills in the last 2 games.

The offensive line was pretty bad. It was mostly reserves that handled the duties, but still, they weren't very good. They allowed 2 sacks and the running game never really got going.

Then the defense.

Drake Nevis had a good game at defensive end. He was definitely the best of the group. Moala had a pretty good game too, cementing himself as the starter going into the season. Nothing special from the nose tackles, but Chigbo Anuoby had a pretty good game and with the injury to McKinney, he cemented his roster spot.

Then the linebackers. They were generally impressive. Jerrell Freeman had himself another great game. He's proving that he's a good replacement for Angerer. Conner had a pretty good game too, but the performance of the game goes to Moise Fokou, who had 13 tackles with a forced fumble. That performance secured his roster spot. Plus, I don't think the Colts would trade for him just to cut him.

Finally, the secondary, nothing really special. Johnson and Vaughn both had 7 tackles each. Their tackling has been generally pretty good this preseason, which is encouraging. The coverage was not bad. They allowed a couple of bad plays that resulted in a (Marvin Jones) TD and some big gains. No one in the secondary played well enough to jump from the "outside" to the "inside" of the 53 man roster.

It was a game where the 3rd stringers played the most. It wasn't fun watching.
