The Indianapolis Colts newly acquired wide receiver Darrius Heyward-Bey left practice Sunday with a sprained left knee, according to the Indianapolis Star-Telegram. He was seen limping off the practice field, then later watching practice with his left knee wrapped in ice. There is currently no timetable for his return. Heyward-Bey was acquired as a free agent this past offseason. He was a 1st round draft pick in 2009 for the Oakland Raiders. Standing 6’2” and capable of running a sub 4.3 40 yard dash, Heyward-Bey has always been brimming with talent. However, many believe he was forced into a bad situation in Oakland with a struggling quarterback (Jamarcus Russell) and a plethora of salary cap issues that still haunt the franchise. It is quite possible that Heyward-Bey was not the issue in Oakland and simply needed a change of scenery. Now, he will get that opportunity in Indianapolis. The Colts still have star receiver Reggie Wayne, but he turns 36 in November. Heyward-Bey is heading into the preseason as the starter opposite Wayne. He hopes to continue fending off second-year receiver T.Y. Hilton, who impressed the Colts coaching staff last year as a much needed explosive element to their offense. Past and present Indianapolis Colts HOF chances

The Pro Football Hall of Fame yesterday inducted seven new members into its hallowed halls: G Larry Allen, WR Cris Carter, DTs Curley Culp and Warren Sapp, OT Jonathan Ogden, LB Dave Robinson, and coach Bill Parcells. It’s as  strong a Hall of Fame class as there has ever been (not that they aren’t all good picks, it is the Hall of Fame after all), but it got me wondering: Based...

DHB Injuries Knee…Door is Open For T.Y. Hilton

Here’s my shot Juan… Not much news available on the severity of the injured knee suffered by DHB, but apparently he had his knee wrapped after practice today.  The Colts did not give a timetable on his return, but this could be the opportunity Hilton needs to separate himself from the veteran WR.   Hilton had 50 catches for 861 yards and 7 TDs to finish 29th among WRs with...

2013 Fantasy Football: Why Andrew Luck Should Not be Your Fantasy Quarterback

Andrew LuckSource: Rob Carr/Getty Images North America Here’s how a typical argument would go between an Andrew Luck proponent and a Luck hater: - Hater: Luck had the 37th lowest completion percentage out of 38 quarterbacks who took 25% or more of their team’s snaps last year. - Proponent: True. But no quarterback attempted more throws of 20+ yards than Luck, and those throws...

Indy offense goes old school with new coordinator

(Eds: With AP Photos.) By MICHAEL MAROT AP Sports Writer Pep Hamilton is giving the Colts' offense a bold, new look. They have a fullback. They have Reggie Wayne working out of the slot. They have bigger offensive linemen protecting Andrew Luck. No, it's not the trendy thing in a league now enamored with running quarterbacks and the read-option. But Hamilton, the offensive...

Heyward-Bey Injures Knee, and I still like Hilton

There have been conflicting reports from Colts training camp concerning a knee injury suffered by Darrius Heyward-Bey. Originally it was reported that he suffered a grade 1-2 sprain and would be out several weeks, but today reports are indicating that the MRI was negative and he’s day-to-day.  Either way, it’s a set back for bringing DHB into the fold with Luck and company....

(Eds: Updates, corrects keyword line. With AP Photos.) By MICHAEL MAROT AP Sports Writer Dwight Freeney and Robert Mathis were virtually inseparable as Colts teammates.
