The Indianapolis Colts have filled one open roster spot by signing free agent offensive tackle Ty Nsekhe. The 6-foot-8, 325-pound lineman spent the last three seasons in the Arena Football League - one each with San Antonio, Philadelphia and Dallas. He replaces Ben Ijalana, the Colts' second-round pick in 2011. Indy placed Ijalana on the waived-injured list Wednesday, the day after coach Chuck Pagano said Ijalana would miss the season with an ACL injury. That means Ijalana will go on Indy's reserve list if he is not claimed. The Colts also have announced backup linebacker A.J. Edds will miss the season because of an ACL injury in his left knee. Edds and Ijalana were both injured Sunday during Indy's first open practice. But the Colts have not filled Edds' spot.

The Curious Case of Benjamin Ijalana

After this, I'm done, I promise.  I've covered Ben Ijalana several times over the last few days, and after finding out he was cut, my fears of Ijalana's injury leading to a shortened NFL career were realized.  I thought that that would be the end of the Ijalana coverage, but some attitudes toward him have been bothering me over the last twenty-four hours, and I wanted...

Ijalana Waived, OT Ty Nsekhe Signed

And so, a promising young lineman's career is over before it even began: the Colts have cut second year player from Villanova Ben Ijalana.  Ijalana was the second round draft pick in the 2011 NFL Draft, someone who possibly would be a bookend with Anthony Castonzo for years. Unfortunately, Ijalana tore his ACL in his left knee during Week 4 of the 2011 season. After a year...

Edds and Ben Ijalana will be missing the rest of the season with ACL tears.  This comes at poor times for both players, young guys who had flashed potential, yet hadn't fully developed.  For Edds, he found a team in Indianapolis that suited him, flashing some talent...

Edds and Griff Whalen were sidelined with injuries yesterday, we get news that Ben Ijalana reaggravated his left knee on Sunday, the same knee in which a torn ACL caused him to miss most of the 2011 season. Ijalana, along with Edds (who may have torn his ACL) is awaiting an MRI to find out the seriousness of the injury.  For Ijalana, this is a big blow...
