Andrew Luck isn't sure how much he'll play in Sunday's preseason opener, and he's not lobbying for more time. The No. 1 overall draft pick was asked Tuesday about his expectations for his first NFL game. Indy's new franchise quarterback says he'll let new coach Chuck Pagano and offensive coordinator Bruce Arians make the call because he trusts their judgment. On Monday, Arians told reporters Luck would likely play 20 to 25 plays against St. Louis. That's comparable to the number of plays four-time MVP Peyton Manning got in his first preseason game when Arians was Indy's quarterbacks coach. Luck had a rough practice Monday, completing 15 of 29 passes, with three TDs and one interception. The Colts will hold the first of two training camp night practices later Tuesday.

Jerrell Freeman: Someone to Keep an Eye On

There are a lot of new players on the Colts. At last count, at least 54 players are either new or have a year or less of experience.  This leads to a lot of moments where I read and update, see a name, and a blank slate just replaces my mind. Never before can I remember mixing up so many names, and being so unfamiliar with a roster.  The roster is filled with no-names, and it...

Paul Kuharsky Loves Dwayne Allen

If you've been following the beat writers on Twitter during the Colts' training camp, or keeping up with news other ways, you'll know that Dwayne Allen has been receiving a lot of attention.  Thankfully, that attention has been all positive.  Coaches and teammates have expressed great surprise in just how good of a receiver he is, and his blocking (which was expected...

Joe Reitz Reportedly Gaining Ground on Starting Left Guard Position

As I've been saying from Day One this offseason, I was pleasantly surprised with Joe Reitz' play at left guard. While the former basketball player wasn't an All-Pro by any means, he did a more than servicable job, and it was essentially his rookie year. He and Anthony Castonzo formed a very good team on that left side before injuries put a damper on the season for both...

Thoughts as Colts Release First Depth Chart

In case you're unaware, the Colts released their first unofficial depth chart for the 2012 season, the one that will be in place for the first preseason game against the St. Louis Rams on Sunday, August 12th.  The depth chart IS unofficial, and is not yet completed on the team's website. The team did however, release pictures of the base depth charts on Instagram, and tweeted...

This is the Fastest Colts Team in Years

The Colts have changed a lot in many ways, and the speed of the team is one of the things that changed the most.     Everything’s new, the quarterback, the tight ends, most of the offensive line, the defensive scheme, THE COACH! The biggest change that everyone is noticing is obviously Andrew Luck, as he is succeeding one of the greatest quarterbacks of all time in Peyton...

My thoughts on the Colts’ first Pre-Season depth chart release

It’s really amazing how quickly things can change during a 6-day vacation. While I was away the Colts traded a cornerback (Kevin Thomas) and brought over two fringe linebackers in return. Two waived players (G Ben Ijalana and DT Eric Foster) return to the team on the IR list since they both cleared waivers – no real shock there. And now the team released its first depth chart...

Bruce Arians Likes What He Sees from Young Indianapolis Colts Offense

Bruce Arians knows quarterbacks. He was Peyton Manning’s first quarterback coach in Indianapolis, groomed Tim Couch in Cleveland before Couch was injured and turned a raw Ben Roethlisberger into a two time Super Bowl winner. Now Arians has a new challenge in grooming another first round quarterback in Andrew Luck. With the Colts made over roster, the task before Arians will be...

Indianapolis Colts Dwight Freeney talks moving to outside linebacker — plus video of his intense workouts

Now that Chuck Pagano has taken over coaching duties for the Indianapolis Colts he is installing a defense very similar to what he did with the Baltimore Ravens. The biggest part of it? Switching a team that has played in a 4-3 foreverandaday to a 3-4 defense and moving two of it’s prized Defensive Ends to Outside Linebacker. Now we get to see what Freeney and Mathis have when...

My Thoughs on the Colts’ First Pre-Season Depth Chart Release

Eagles sign DT Gill

The Eagles signed defensive tackle John Gill and released running back Jeremy Stewart. Gill, 25, has played for the Lions and Colts since entering the NFL as an undrafted free agent from Northwestern in 2009. Stewart signed as an undrafted free agent after the 2012 draft. The Stanford product was competing mostly at fullback. Offensive coordinator Marty Mornhinweg said last week...

2012 NFL Season: 6 Teams That Are Must See Television

Every season fans line up to sip the nectar of delusion that is necessary for most to believe this is their team’s year. For some teams the off-season offers a chance to reload and for others an opportunity to rebuild. The results of these moves are unbridled enthusiasm, not just from the acquiring teams fan base but the entire NFL’s base. Andrew Luck replacing the greatest...

Links of the Day 8/6/12

We landed on Mars (again) last night! Party at NASA! Pole vaulting was a disaster yesterday at the Olympics. The Colts are ready to move on from Andrew Luck. The Montee Ball assault may not have been random. SCOREBOARD MLB Boston 6, Minnesota 4 – The Twins couldn’t pull off the sweep, which was crazy to even be possible. Chicago 4, Los Angeles 2 – The White Sox are a lot more...
