This is who I think will make the 53 man roster.

QB: Andrew Luck, Drew Stanton, Chandler Harnish

RB: Donald Brown, Vick Ballard, Delone Carter

WR: Reggie Wayne, Austin Collie, Donnie Avery, TY Hilton, Lavon Brazill

TE: Coby Fleener, Dwayne Allen, Dominique Jones

OL: Anthony Castonzo, Joe Reitz, Samson Satele, Winston Justice, AQ Shipley, Mike Tepper, Mike McGlynn, Ty Nsekhe, Seth Olsen, Jeff Linkenbach, Hayworth Hicks

DL: Cory Redding, Fili Moala, Mookie Johnson, Chigbo Anuoby, Ricardo Matthews, Drake Nevis

LB: Pat Angerer, Kavell Conner, Jerrell Freeman, Moise Fokou, Greg Lloyd, Dwight Freeney, Robert Mathis, Jerry Hughes, Tim Fugger

DB: Antoine Bethea, Vontae Davis, Jerraud Powers, Tom Zbikowski, Joe Lefeged, Justin King, DJ Johnson, Cassius Vaughn, Korey Lindsey, Jermale Hines

ST: Adam Vinatieri, Pat McAfee, Justin Snow

PS: Darren Evans, Jabin Sambrano, Kris Adams, James Aiono, Mario Addison, Lattarius Thomas, Jeremy Ross, Kyle Miller

Some Notes:

- I think they keep Linkenbach due to the number of bodies they have at OL. They don't have many and they'll need him for depth.

- The same goes for Hicks, but if the Colts claim someone or activate someone off IR or another list, they'll be at the top for guys to waive.

- Only 3 running backs. I don't think Moore or Karim have done enough to earn a roster spot on the team. Darren Evans is still eligible for the practice squad, and that's where he belongs.

- Greg Lloyd barely makes the roster, and if need someone to waive, he'll be one of the first to go.

- Only 5 receivers. Fleener should be playing some slotback too, and Collie is healthy for the opener. If they need bodies, they can't sign one of 3 guys from the pracitce squad (Sambrano, Adams, or Ross).

- Offensive line is clearly the biggest need, with a few mediocre starters and bad depth.

A Guess at Friday's 53-Man Roster

With the most recent cuts and injury related moves, the Colts are currently down to 75 players on the active roster. By Friday at 4 pm ET, they must be down to 53 players.  Here's my early week guess at the final roster, with an aside: this roster is solely comprised of players on the roster right now. The Colts will likely add as many as 5-7 new faces after the league-wide...

Expect a huge year from Dwayne Allen in Indy

When Indianapolis drafted Andrew Luck with the first overall pick, the Front Office knew that they were going to have to give him as many weapons they could to make him succeed. In the second round the Colts added Luck’s best friend in college with Coby Fleener, who was considered as the best tight end in the draft by many, but I wasn’t a big fan of his.  While I understand...

Vontae Davis Just Wants to Call His Grandma After Being Informed of Trade to Colts (Video)

The best part about sports reality TV shows like Hard Knocks, 24/7 or any other show like that is the almost unlimited access it provides. Sports fans are taken behind the scenes to see what goes on not only the playing field but also the practice field, film room, coach's office and even the general manager's office. On Tuesday's episode of Hard Knocks, football fans...

Indianapolis' Luck gets 1 more chance to tune up

Andrew Luck has one more chance to get things right before the games count. The rookie quarterback has looked good in the Colts' first three preseason games, though Saturday afternoon's loss at Washington was clearly the toughest. Against the Redskins, Luck had to contend with a bevy of blitzes, breakdowns along the offensive line and penalties that led to stalled drives...

Austin Collie was catching passes at Colts practice Tuesday

Getty According to Jason Spells of WRTV in Indianapolis, Colts wide receiver Austin Collie was catching passes during Tuesday’s practice. #Colts Austin Collie is still day-to-day, but he did catch passes from The QBs today. twitter.com/JasonSpells/st… — Jason Spells (@JasonSpells) August 28, 2012 Collie has been recovering from a concussion he suffered during the Colts week...

Colts hoping for solid start in new Luck era

The Indianapolis Colts are ready to start over. For the first time in 15 years, Peyton Manning isn't around. For the first time in more than a decade, the Colts are not expected to contend for a division title or make the playoffs. Players understand this is reality for 2012, they just don't believe in using the r-word. ''I don't have rebuilding years in me...

Andrew Luck not doing endorsements so he can focus on football

Between video from practice, preseason games, and media conferences, football fans have seen plenty of Andrew Luck over the past month. Fans should continue to see plenty of him during the course of the football season, but one place you won’t see the Colts rookie is in commercials. That’s because Luck made the conscious decision to avoid endorsement deals during his rookie season...

Indianapolis Colts Acquire CB Vontae Davis: Major Upgrade or Waste of Picks?

The Indianapolis Colts acquired former 1st round corner back Vontae Davis from the Miami Dolphins on Sunday. I, like nearly everyone else, has been predicting that the Colts would make a move via trade to help shore up their secondary. This maybe wasn’t quite the move we had been expecting however. The biggest thing Colts fans have to wonder: Is this the major upgrade the secondary...

Indianapolis Colts Place Players on Injured Reserve/PUP Lists to Get Roster to 75

The Indianapolis Colts finished their roster moves Monday to get down the league mandated limit of 75 players. The team placed Griff Whalen, George Foster and Brandon McKinney on the reserved injured list. Under new NFL rules, these players could possibly return later in the year if their health permits. Rookies Justin Anderson and Josh Chapman were placed on the reserve physically...

Colts originally offered a 5th and 6th for Vontae Davis

Earlier this week, the Dolphins sent Vontae Davis to the Colts for a 2nd and 6th round pick. However, according to the Palm Beach Post and confirmed on the recent episode of Hard Knocks, the Colts originally offered just a 5th and 6th round pick for Davis, before eventually being negotiated up to a 2nd and 6th round pick. Getting Davis for just a 5th and 6th round pick would have...

Colts expect Austin Collie healthy for week 1

According to the Indianapolis Star, Colts Head Coach Chuck Pagano expects Austin Collie to be healthy for week 1. Collie suffered his 4th concussion in 21 months last week, but it was as minor as they come and he should be cleared before week 1. On a thin receiving corps, Austin Collie has great upside in fantasy leagues. Other than him, the Colts’ only other receivers who aren’t...

Bengals, Colts make host of lineup changes

The Colts and Bengals will each be missing five starters in Thursday night's preseason finale. Indy will play without receiver Austin Collie, cornerback Jerraud Powers, defensive end Cory Redding and left guard Joe Reitz. All are hurt. Dwight Freeney also is sitting out and will be replaced in the lineup by Justin Hickman. Ricardo Matthews takes over for Redding, Donnie Avery...

4 Reasons Why the Indianapolis Colts Should Add Chris Cooley

The news came out today that the Washington Redskins have released long time and former Pro-Bowl tight end Chris Cooley. I think that Cooley would be an amazing addition to the team, and I’ll detail why here in a moment. One thing that makes any situation like this easier is that the Colts have the first crack at any player placed on waivers thanks to their 2-14 record in 2011...

Is the 2012 Quarterback Class destined for greatness?

The 2012 NFL Draft will be remembered for the Indianapolis Colts selecting Andrew Luck, and the Washington Redskins pulling a massive trade in order to secure Robert Griffin III. Both of these quarterbacks set the tone for the draft, but why must they get all the attention? While the focus is on Andrew Luck and [...]
