Indianapolis offensive guard Joe Reitz did not travel with the team to Chicago for Sunday's season opener.
The backup did not practice all week after he was kicked in the knee. Seth Olsen won the job at left guard by beating out Reitz, who started 11 games last season, and Jeff Linkenbach, last season's starter at right tackle.
Reitz and starting inside linebacker Pat Angerer are the only Colts ruled out for Sunday.
Angerer hasn't played since the preseason opener against St. Louis after having surgery to repair a fractured right foot.

The Indianapolis Colts and the Chicago Bears meet for the first time since 2008, when the Bears gained a measure of revenge against the Colts for the Super Bowl XLI loss. Chicago beat Indy 29-13 in the first regular season NFL game played at Lucas Oil Stadium.
And if you needed a reminder, this is also the first season in 14 years that Colts fans won’t see #18 under center,...
The Indianapolis Colts spent their first two picks in the draft on college teammates in hopes that it would ease their transition to the NFL. And so far, it seems to have worked. Andrew Luck was shaky in his debut, but he definitely looked comfortable working with Coby Fleener.
While Reggie Wayne was understandably Luck’s go-to receiver, he also targeted Fleener 10 times on...
For many years the focal point of the Indianapolis Colts defense has been defensive ends Dwight Freeney and Robert Mathis.
The Colts relied heavily on the “Tampa-2″ or cover-2 defense during the last decade having been implemented during Tony Dungy’s eight year run followed by Jim Caldwell’s two year as head coach.
Caldwell was fired at the end of last season and the Colts...
Pro Bowlers Charles Tillman and Dwight Freeney have left Sunday's game between the Indianapolis Colts and the Chicago Bears.
Freeney, one of the few holdovers on the Colts' heavily remade roster, was listed as questionable to return after injuring an ankle in the first quarter. The linebacker was hurt on the Bears' first scoring drive when he was blocked low and appeared...
After such an incredibly turbulent offseason, perhaps the most turbulent one since infamously moving to Indianapolis in 1984, the Indianapolis Colts finally have a real football game to play today, the first one coached by Chuck Pagano and quarterbacked by Andrew Luck.
A new era. A fresh start.
We certainly won’t learn everything about this majorly overhauled roster after...
Just thinking, well, let’s be honest, fantasizing, about the Chicago Bears’ season opener Sunday against the possibly-hapless Indianapolis Colts, conjures up images of Will Smith sassing the alien he has just yanked out of a spaceship and punched to death in the desert in “Independence Day”. But in my Bear-centric fantasy, Julius Peppers is Will Smith, and that doomed...
I don’t get rattled easily Juan…
I will look at each game and give details about each team that may help fantasy owners make better decisions going into that week’s games. Enjoy.
Andrew Luck makes his NFL debut on Sunday and pulls a tough Bears defense on the road. I think he will have some success in this game, but he is your backup for a reason. Keep him on your...
We go over all the on-field action during Chicago’s 41-21 victory over the Indianapolis Colts in the regular season opener.
The Indianapolis Colts and Chicago Bears will meet for the 42nd time ever on Sunday. The Colts lead the all-time series 23-18.
The Bears are 6-1 in their last seven home openers. The Colts have lost their last two road openers.
The Bears defeated the Colts the last time the two teams played in 2008, 29-13. In that game, a then rookie Matt Forte ran 23 times for 123 yards, which included...
The Chicago Bears showed off their explosive offense in today's 41-21 victory over the Indianapolis Colts. It was an interesting afternoon at Soldier Field, with the Colts coming out of the gates firing. Let's take a look at some highlights in today's game, and finish up with the hero and the "zero".On the opening drive, the Bears were rudely introduced to the...
The Chicago Bears welcome the Indianapolis Colts to Soldier Field this Sunday.
Andrew Luck, the #1 overall pick from the 2012 NFL Draft will be under center for the Colts. He will likely face an uphill battle against the veteran Bears defense.
The rookie quarterback has a shaky offensive line in front of him led by second-year tackle Anthony Castonzo. With the departure of center...
